Sergio Martinez is and continues to be stepped by the WBC and other belts as well as HBO because he doesn't have the strong arm of a good promoter.
Do you really think if he was with TR or GB he would have been stripped? Or would HBO force the fight with Dzinzurik?
      I don't think so.
It has a lot to do with it homey. If Martinez was Mexican or Pr he would be a huge superstar selling out arenas in the places I mentioned. All the dudes u mentioned are Americans who sell in certain areas in America. Top Rank for example would be hesistant to match himwith Chavez even if Martinez was with Top Rank because its likely Martinez would win and they could sell Chavez without taking that risk. Sort of like Juanma Gamboa.

I understand that being mexican or pr would be a huge help, but he is not. And that is no excuse for him being so poorly promoted. Again I tell you, do you truly believe that if he was with TR or GB he would have been stripped by the WBC or forced into a bad fight with Dzinzurik by HBO?

Maybe not Chavez Jr or Canelo, but he def. would have gotten Cotto.

Yeah if the point was to make Chavez Jr the WBC champ. **** Arum would have cosigned that because Chavez would earn him more money with the belt.

Why would Arum risk Cotto against a guy with no fanbase when he can sell out MSG against a guy like Zab?

I agree with u in that if Martinez was Mexican or P.R. he would be a star. but as far as promoting Martinez, its not easy to promote an Argentine fighter that speaks very little English and fights in a division where te best contenders are European. I do think, however, that if he stayed at 154 and fought on the West Coast he might have been better off. But Arum and De La Hoya skipped on Martinez, so, Dibella hasn't done that bad of a job considering he runs a small promotional company.

This is sad but true, he would literally have to make Chavez jr's face look like that of the terminator when half of his face was missing.

Another fight in Texas, another texas athletic commission debacle...sigh.

                    But here's my thinking:

If Lee wins, Sergio will end up fighting Lee to get to Chavez.

If Chavez wins, Sergio will end up fighting Lee to get to Chavez.

Meanwhile Chavez goes off and keeps on fighting and the struggle to get the Chavex fight continues for Sergio.
