If Floyd took every fight serious with no trash talk, I would respect him more

Why should anyone care what he says? Are you a woman or ****sexual?

I personally find him corny anyway, no real wit to anything he says. But a lotta kids like his schtick and get into boxing because of his "persona"

Mayweather spent around 7-8 years as a P4P level fighter and multiple division titlist that didn't trash talk (I remember him being the "cleancut" fighter as recently as the Zab fight (though he broke from that temporarily against Gatti)). After releasing his trash talking persona, he's been getting the results he wants (8 figures and popularity).

I have never seen Floyd not take a fight seriously. Since I've heard of and started watching Floyd...its been always said that he cuts no corners in training and he is widely known the hardest worker in the sport...of course that's an matter of opinion but for that to be said over a long career has to hold some kind of truth to it.

He trash talked Ortiz at will though man. He didn't with Marquez and hasn't really started with Cotto. We'll have to wait for the 24/7 of course.

I wish more people would shut up and appreciate that we've gotten good fights from Floyd in a row now and we actually have Manny doing a good fight at the same time Floyd is. At least we can appreciate that.

I have no problem with Floyd's last 3 opponents, Mosley-Ortiz-Cotto. Mosley was coming off knocking Margarito out, everyone was saying Floyd wouldn't fight him, he was the next best WW aside from Floyd and Manny, and people were looking for him to get a big fight. He was past his prime but it was still a good fight going in. Fast forward to May 2011 when he fought Manny, not so much.

Floyd was reportedly looking to fight then unbeaten Berto once Berto took care of Ortiz. He got whupped by Ortiz and Floyd fought him. At that time, Ortiz was coming off 5 straight wins (A. Diaz, Campbell, and Berto notably) and a draw he should have won over Lamont Peterson, which looks pretty damn good right now. He has aserted himself as the next best WW after Manny and that was a good fight, especially with Floyd coming off the shelf once again. After Ortiz went through Berto and before I joined this place, I was reading posts from fans on here saying "Pac-Ortiz, great fight. We know Floyd won't fight Victor Ortiz, he's too much of a risk. He's a southpaw and has an explosive offense". May-Ortiz was a good fight.

Now, both Mayweather and Pacquiao, though they can't seem to fight each other, are fighting the best options outside of each other right now. Floyd is fighting Cotto at 154 and Manny is fighting Bradley. Both very good fights. I think we can appreciate that.

Floyd doesn't need to sell this fight. Two great fighters fighting for the #1 rank at junior middleweight and the WBA championship. What more do you need?
