If Floyd wasn't such a good trash talker he wouldn't have so many people hating him. That is his main selling point, to be a villain. A little bit trash talking is good and when the fight is finished there should be nothing but respect towards each other. But I love the trash talk, especially in the 24/7. This is my main fear that if Floyd keeps showing this much respect to Miguel the 24/7 will become boring.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of the 1 million+ people that buy Floyd's PPV, do not appreciate Floyd's boxing style. A lot of them buy Floyd because of Floyd's villain character.

Floyd thinks that he doesn't have to be controversial vs. Cotto because Cotto is a big name, hence the boring promotion. He's probably right.

and you can't deny Floyds boxing skills are
one of a kind, the guy is impressive but
there's alot of people waiting for the trash talk waiting
for Floyd to say something to Cotto.
Miguel says he is going to win with no trash talk
so has Mayweather and to me is more exciting when
you have two very serious and determine boxers
Face to face than to hear trash talk.

floyd mayweather takes every fight seriously. the guy trains as hard as anybody. if he did not trash talk he would not be popular

he'd be the next andre ward. floyd mayweather's style isnt like oscar (oscar knocked people the hell out when he was coming up. he was a handsome devil. women loved him) or tyson (mike tyson REALLY knocked everybody the hell out. and then he imploded, making his star rise more than ever)

he makes his money because of his personality. he plays the villain. he's damn good at it. he's the best talker in the sport if you consider his objective. he's trying to make money with what he says and what he does, and it's working. his style is anything but fan friendly.


if he went out there and "yes sir'd and no sir'd" he wouldn't even be talked about in the main stream. boxing would find another star.

it's classy when show respect for their opponents through their words. granted.

however, the real showing of respect is in the gym. you respect this boxer? you take him seriously? train your balls off. that's what floyd does. that's how he shows his respect. he trains his ass off to beat these guys. that's respect. far more valuable than words at a press conference


i actually would be shocked if floyd pulls a ton of stuff the way he did with ortiz (neck grabbing for example,) on a great fighter like miguel cotto.

That trash talk helps make it exciting because he puts his mouth on the line. Besides this is boxing, not tennis. I can't see how some of you can be fans of this kind of sport and want things to be all lovey dovey all the time. *** that, this is a ***in fight!
