Trust me, Alvarez is levels above Brook in terms of competition. Brook's best win is Matthew Hatton and who has Hatton really beat?

I'm unable to break down each fighter's record at the moment. But for starters I wouldn't mind Jose Miguel Cotto being Brook's next opponent, which says something.

Not bad... Clottey is good though, so it'll show where Brook stands.
He's a name fighter and a former belt holder... so a step up from MatT Hatton

Well they both fought Matthew Hatton and Lovemore NDou in their last 5 fights. Alvarez's resume is slightly better but not by much. Mostly because of the Cintron win.

          ' Slightly better '

It's a lot better. They both have common opponents in N'Dou and Hatton but that doesn't mean too much. Let me get on BoxRec.

            Matthew Hatton
            Michael Jennings
            Rafal Jackiewicz

            vs

            Alfonso Gomez
            Jose Miguel Cotto
            Ryan Rhodes

That's without Cintron even in the equation. 40 year old Baldomir is probably a better win then Hatton. I think Alvarez's age has a lot to do with his competition in his past several fights. But he's proved how good he is by stopping Cintron and has a fight with Mosley next.

One resume doesn't look much better than the other, just a little better like I said. I'm not saying Brook and Canelo are in the same league, Canelo is light years ahead skillwise IMO but when it comes to their level of opposition, I don't see a big difference.

Cintron was coming off a ass-kicking dished out by Molina. After the Mosley fight you'll be able to say Canelo's resume is much better.

Alvarez hasn't beaten Mosley yet and I only listed three opponents of each fighter's resume. The fact I can afford to leave out Cintron and Baldomir and add Cotto shows just how big the difference is.

Forget about what these fighters were coming off, look at what they are and have been. But if you want to go there...

Cintron was coming off a win over Smith, previously a 98 - 92 decision to Molina.

Hatton was coming off a win over Abramenka who's record comprises of fighters with more losses than wins. In his previous fight he was a punching bag for Alvarez.
