You call a 25 year old fighter who has been professional for 8years prospect?
You just acknowledged that he isn't a top level fighter after 8years?

Name one opponent on his record that you can say in that space of time is seriously credible.

I don't even really like Amir Khan but his assessment on Kell Brook was true.

        Never going to happen.
i think its fair to say brook is more than a prospect at this point, hes a contender. but i know what youre saying though..

clottey is a big enough step up for kell, no need to go too far. alot of ppl dont understand the business but you dont take a fighter whos got brooks mix of potential and lack of big fight experience and throw him in there with the top dogs. you work your way up, especially when you can make good money fighting lower level oposition.

brook will get to the fights yall talking about soon enough, but right now clottey is a great chance to gain experience and grow. he only lost to top fighters, he sure gave cotto all he could handle and he beat judah. thats a big task for a guy whos best win his matt hatton.

theres no need to b1tch about brooks oponent. at this point he will fight better fighters each time out, maidana might be next after this and then perhaps a title after that. havce some patience, kid is just 25.

Age and time spent as a professional have no bearing on that person's current status. It's all about learning when you start in the professional ranks and an 18 year old kid isn't going to have the experience to just wonder in with great competition.

Do you know why he has no ' seriously ' credible opponents?

Because he's still considered a prospect and is being given fights that will help him reach world level where he will compete with the best in the world. I feel Brook could've been pushed a little faster, he wasted several fights against poor opposition.

I'll consider Brook a contender when he beats a good gatekeeper at world level. There is a gulf in class between Hatton and what resides at the lower end of the best 15 welterweights in the world. Brook could be in for a big shock.

Do you consider Canelo a prospect?

He holds the WBC title, even without it - he's not a prospect.

Alvarez is a solid contender in his division.

Not really a fight I want to see to be honest. I'd rather see him in there with Maidana if he stays at 147.

This is the thing with British fighters, they might have the same amount of fights as their American counterparts but when you break down the resume it's a different story.

We'll use Devon Alexander and Kell Brook as examples...

In Alexander's 14th fight he fought Corley, a genuine world level gatekeeper.
In Brook's 14th fight he fought Karl David, who was never anything on the British domestic scene.

Brook won the British welterweight title in his 17th fight and continued to fight other domestic welterweights. He stepped up in competition against Bienias and again when taking on Jennings. After Jennings he had a record of 22 - 0, he should've then been put in with N'Dou then Hatton. He wasted a few fights just staying busy.

Alexander arrived on the scene in his 19th fight with a victory of Junior Witter for the WBC light welterweight title. Brook is yet to face his ' DeMarcus Corley '.

But he's pretty much fighting the same level of opposition as Brook, with the exception of Cintron who was a step up.
