BoxingScene.com: There have been reports that he (Floyd) was offered 9 million in order to make the fight, is that an accurate number?
Winky Wright: Well, I don't know, but for me, I was offered 6 million and for 6 million hands down I would have fought him. I kind of knew they were giving him 9 (million), but I think it should of been 50-50 like I've said. He's a small guy, a great fighter, but if he wants to fight, he isn't the big draw. He isn't (the draw) like he thinks he's (Oscar) De La Hoya so if we're going to do it, we will do it 50-50 or we just won't do it.
BoxingScene.com: There have been plenty of rumors overseas with respect to a possible fight with Joe Calzaghe.
Winky Wright: That is a false statement. That's false right there. Joe Calzaghe, I don't know how my name keeps coming up in there, but I'm not going to fight him unless he fights Jeff Lacy

Excuses? 16 months layoff was excuses? Cool story!yea of course, it's funny how the thread is about floyd making exuses yet all u are doing is making oppinionated excuses.shane didn't fight in 16 months o k but that was because no one wanted to fight him. how do u know the 16 month layoff was the reason for the way shane performed?and you even kinda try to make an excuse for the margo fight and margaito state of mind yet margarito seems to get beat up in alot of his fights even in his win over cotto so i don't understand why it's impoosible to believe that shane pounding on margarito has anything to do with the fact that shane is just a much better boxer than margarito and as far as a fighters mind set some seem to forget that shane was dealing with a divorce and the whole balco situation at the time of the margarito fight
Nobody wanted to fight him? Try this ..... Berto cancelled out on him because of the earthquake in Haiti!
As soon as Mosley knew about Margarito and them bricks it was a psychological edge/boost for him and obviously had the opposite affect on Margarito. Would Mosley still have beat Margarito? Perhaps because as I already stated, Margarito fits the older Mosley better in style matchups ... but you purposely forgot I said all that!
Mosley was OLD ... Plus there were all those other things going on that I mentioned .... but I guess, unlike Floyd, you are not buying that Mosley was old .... lol!Comment

That because you haven't realized that real fans are outnumbered by uneducated idiots.
This isn't about logic, giving credit or even fair play.
Its about having someone that looks like you win by ANY MEANS NECESSARY and then defend EVERYTHING they do.
I'm pretty sure there are some Paul Williams fans out there that argued that he beat Lara.
There are crazies in every color, sex and religion.
The only people you should be interested in conversing with are the ones that are willing to shoot straight.Comment

Pacquiao is smaller than Mayweather.
Pacquiao maximum weight is 147lbs and he gets in well bellow that for the weigh in.
Floyd is a small light middle but he will weigh in around 150+ for a fight at that weight, and he will have just beating Cotto at that weight.
There is no excuse for Floyd for taking this fight, if he really wants to fight the best, or even the 2nd best.
Wait ....So is Mayweather too big for Pac?

Mosley was past his prime for sure when he met Floyd in 2010. That doesn't mean it was a bad fight at that time though, given what Shane had done. He was coming off knocking Margarito out, which elevated him to the Top 5 P4P, and he was seen as the next best WW aside from Floyd and Manny. Arum and Roach, as well as a ton of fans, said Floyd wouldn't go anywhere near him after he knocked Margarito out. He did, and now it's a "cherry pick", get the f**k outta here. It's like when people say Whitaker was a cherry pick for Oscar. Yes, Pernell was past his prime, and he arguably beat Oscar, but he was still the #1 ranked WW in the world and hadn't even really lost a fight at all. That wasn't Oscar cherry picking an old Whitaker.
Just like Floyd wasn't cherry picking Mosley in 2010. Pac refused random testing, Mosley-Berto was off, and Floyd fought Mosley. Everybody and their brother was saying from Mid 2009-early 2010 that Shane deserved to be in the discussion of a mega-fight with Floyd and Manny. Oh and by the way, Roach and Manny both said they'd only fight Shane at 142 lbs at that time. But when Shane got whupped by Floyd and arguably lost to Mora, he was all of a sudden a good fight.
It's ridiculous the double standard that people have on here. Like with JMM arguably beating Pac again, this time at 144, people just say "They are so evenly matched, Marquez is just such a great fighter". But, when it comes to Floyd shutting Marquez out at 144 over 2 years earlier, people say "Marquez was fighting at 144, easy fight for Floyd", and people still refuse to give him credit for that win, even though an even older JMM arguably just beat Manny at the exact same weight.
It's insanity.Comment
