Not when it comes to fighting southpaws.

Against southpaws he's more aggressive because has more trouble rolling punches from that angle so he fixes that by being first. An aggressive Floyd is still too quick and slick for Martinez.

Martinez doesn't apply enough PRESSURE to beat Floyd, his style falls into Floyd hand and Gameplan IMO

Floyd would duck under a lot of Martinez punches and following it was sneaky body shots which Martinez is very Vulnerable to because he LUNGES FORWARD A LOT!

I see it playing out as Martinez doing well early, then Mayweather chopping him down and slowing him down, walking him down and forcing him to change his style and forcing him to fight with his HANDS UP

Mayweather by UD with a late serge after figuring Martinez out

And just more more vulnerable to get hit by straight left hands. Martinez won't hesitate to constantly throw several of them. As i said, Manny would give Floyd problems as well, but Floyd can hurt Manny enough to discourage him. With Sergio, it's completely different. Hopkins and JMM seems to be more consistent at avoiding the straight left hand, they always rotates away from it whenever they can. Floyd completely stand at an angle when he can easily be hit by it if his opponent has the footwork to cuts him off first.

His style is fine. It's completely similar to what Judah tried against Floyd, he just didn't had the mental toughness to executed it consistently. Floyd is a bit reckless against southpaws even though he's still able to throw well-timed sharp accurate punches. I think Martinez would be to able to confidently counter him with the straight left hand at will.

@ the thought of Floyd walking down a 160lbs fighter that isn't a mental midget, nor gun-shy when it comes to throwing his most effective punch.

At 154 Martinez coming down in weight. Floyd wins. Just as Pac would also win against Martinez at 154.
Sergio would knock pacs head into orbit. Pac didn't stand a chance against sergio

On what basis is Marquez better at avoiding straight left hands compared to Mayweather?

It's not as worthy as the idea of Martinez countering Mayweather.

He's not even a good counter puncher.

Tough fight for Floyd , Sergio is a lot bigger and nearly as fast , it would be a chess match and could go either way in a technical match , Pac not a chance Sergio would destroy him , too big too fast hits too hard !
