Look Floyd will rank top 50 G.O.A.T. but to put him at number two is just Ludicrous. He's one of the best in the world. The time continuum is a different story, to be the top there Floyd hasn't done enough, no fighter in the last decade really has. Boxing is really weak right now. Top 50 is a real achievement.

Comments Thread For: R. Mayweather Explains Why Floyd Ranks Behind Robinson

Mayweather and Robinson are not in the same league! Robinson fought everybody, never ducked anyone, never made any crazy demands or excuses, he just wanted to be the best. Mayweather does not pick out the best, he hand picks his fights to make sure he wins. You saw his interview last week, it's about self preservation, not getting beat is more important to Floyd than fighting the best. That's why he didn't face Cotto before he was beaten. That's why he didn't face Margarito, Pacquaio, Mosley (until he was shot), the list goes on.
Sugar Ray Robinson is a true legend of the sport and honourable in every way. Floyd has nothing on him and would be lucky to make the top 20 of all time great boxers. Not a bad position, but nowhere near the greatest.

Go read "Charley Burley and the Black Murderers Row".
You'll have a much better understanding after that.

You?
Hell JCC Sr had almost 50+ fights before he ever even stepped up to fight a world champion. That's EXTREME padding.
Is that ATG material?
He also had a DQ loss overturned by his manager, who was on the local boxing committee, to a KO win.
Is that ATG material?
Roger Mayweather may not always be right and he does make flippant remarks, but when he talks boxing, he's leaps and bounds ahead of most guys.

Roger ranks boxing legend "Sugar" Ray Robinson as the greatest fighter in the history of the sport. Mayweather faces WBA 154-pound champion Miguel Cotto on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
