if he did, he wouldnt have gotten knocked down.
Victor was looking at Cortez for a break and not expecting any shots to be fired. He may not have seen Berto's shots, but he was in an exchange and fighting.

He's still the same Ortiz. He just didn't had the constant moments against Floyd that he had against Berto.

it was a sucker punch thats why it hurts more than any punch. simply because his mind and body is not yet set on battle mode or ready to get hurt yet.. when he was fighting berto toe-to-toe and even got knockdown he was on his adrenalin and they are both biting their mouthpiece while against floyd he was widely open.

i remember one scenario at pac-barrera II. barrera doesnt have the power to hurt pac at 130, but he sucker punch pac during the break up of ref and pac wasnt prepared and was rocked badly and given a chance to recover..

If all i said during the vic-may fight was false, then maybe victor chosed to milked it and create more controversy, but im sure he came there to win and to ko floyd and wants to fight.. mayweather didnt do much to get in his head.

I think he knew he was gonna get hit after the first punch, which wasn't powerful.

The right is what knocked him out.

The guy was just in quit mode.

Why didn't that show up against mayweather? Did he get in his head?

I think he could have gotten up from that 2 piece... I think he just knew he couldnt beat floyd and quit- it was easy to fake because he was already dazed. But not so bad that he couldn't fight it out.
Lol, Ortiz got dropped by shot he took as he was relaxed with his guard down, and a clean right with everything on it WHILE he looking at the ref. AND you're saying he didn't want to get up?, what u smoking son? Most guys would be out cold. I think Ortiz has a decent chin with really good recovery, especially on the Berto fight.
The other **** i don't get though, his attitude is weird as f@k. Sometimes he's in the zone, other times who knows where the f@ck he is, lol

punches hurt less when you're relaxed

If you tense you head when you're boxing, you feel the impact on your enire head and your neck, like your head is being ripped apart. But if you relax your head and your neck, your body naturally absorbs the impact in the most efficient way.

Didn't look like it in Ortiz's case, the ONE time he "relaxed", he was out by the same shot he was taking before. How did that happen?

victor was doing good in the berto fight by trying to move to his right and get that outside foot on berto, which is key anytime it is orthodox vs southpaw.

berto was doing the opposite, letting victor get the outside foot on him, and Berto kept moving and leaning to his right which is what you should not do vs. a southpaw. This could be that he realized he was not the stronger man, a reaction to victor's pressure, and could not establish his outside foot so he could move to his left. The whole fight after the first round, he moved to his left only trying to land his big overhand right.

Victor against Mayweather, victor looked to try the same approach of moving to his right. Mayweather opted to stand his ground, and not simply turn to face victor when victor tried to move to his right. This proved to be the correct tactic to beat him, to stand ground with him and not run.

If you run too much against victor, he has decent footspeed and boxing skills and can cut off the ring, corner and smoother you. If you stand your ground with him and don't let him have the outside foot the whole fight, you can beat him. Maidana did that and Lamont Peterson adjusted late in their fight to do that.

While Maidana slugged it out with victor and got knocked down threetimes, lamont (after adjusting) and floyd were better at standing their ground and boxing from there, controlling the distance. Although Berto had a terrible gameplan, Berto had moments where he made victor reach with his straight left to counter. Floyd showed exactly how you should fight victor ortiz, eventhough trying to shoulderoll against opposite stances is a bit ackward and risky, but he is good enough to do it.

Mayweather has to break someone down before he can knock them out- he doesn't have that kind of power.
Sure he does. Victor wasn't expecting it therefore wasn't braced for it nor knew it was coming. His legs weren't right, his neck wasn't right, nothing was right to absorb that shot. A lot of factors go into why he couldn't get up (if he legitimately couldn't).
