While his resume IS lacking somewhat, his actual talents were pretty damn good. His footwork alone was something I particularly admired for a face-first brawling type like Ricky was.
well said yeah same he could close the distance extreamly fast and move in and out side to side **** was awsome

In closing : I honestly wish more fighters had fans like Ricky Hatton's fans. Say what you want about the drinking and marching bands and all that jazz, but Ricky had the most loyal fanbase I've ever seen, and I always enjoyed the atmosphere they brought to a fight.

The sport would be in much better shape if there were more true fans like Ricky's - who supported you in defeat as well as in victory, than it currently is with bandwagon-jumping douchebags who think a guy is "shot" the moment he has a bad style matchup.

          He definitely won Round 5.

That was a clear Hatton round.

Other than that, there wasn't much.

I think he is rated about right (maybe slightly underrated nowadays). He was so vastly overrated by his fans leading up to the Floyd fight, that the negative now balances out with how vastly overrated he was in 2007.

Hatton was certainly overrated when he was active. His fans were loyal but they sure as hell were delusional, and annoying.

Especially here in the UK. It got really out of hand but that's the kind of thing Hatton was good for, he was the kind of guy that people warmed to. The fans loved him in the UK. Even people who didn't like Boxing.

Since he's left it seems it's switched and become underrated.

People act as if he wasn't good and was never good. That's just wrong, simply put.

When Hatton was at his peak, he was a world class fighter.

He set out with a dream to be World Champion, overachieved more than possibly anyone of the last era, two weight world Champion.

Only lost to two ATG's and he went out on his shield in both fights.

Can't do nothing but respect him.

Ricky Hatton was an Absolute Terror! 100Miles an hour, this guy was top class, never a top 5 p4p guy imo but a very good fighter and one im proud to have supported. Losing only to Money and Pac.

This guy might have been overrated by the casual fan but i think at least now he is Under rated yeah.

He was one of the physically strongest 140lb fighters u will ever see, had some of the best foot work and fastest feet too - nobody since Pryor closed the gap as quick as Ricky! Great body shots delivered from terrific angles he quickly slipped into, top fighter

Ricky had wins over Stewart, Tszyu, Maussa, Collazo, Urango, Castillo, Lazcano, and Malignaggi. He won 4 tiles in 2 weight classes, was a former Top 10 P4P fighter. He is pretty underrated by a ton of people. He did beat Tszyu, a HOF fighter, when Tszyu came back and was the Ring #1 JWW in the world. He has the defining win by beating Tszyu. He was the premier JWW in his era.
I can't dispute the fact he beat Tszyu, however we all know he won due to a biased ref. Had the fight taken placed anywhere else Tszyu would have won by decision. As far as underrating him...I think most people rank him where he belongs not a great fighter but IMO he is close to being Hall of Fame worthy.

I love the respect you guys are showing. But it's almost 3pm... which means all these kids are getting out of class...

which means they'll be hitting these boards, and saying something ******.
