wuda cuda shuda. All fighters mentioned were great. Among them the fighter that interest us pinoys most is jimmy mclarnin who fought the first great pinoy world champ pancho villa at catch weight, a very hot topic as far as pac resume is mentioned. He eventually became a welterweight champ fighting top caliber oppositions along the way. Is he greater than pac? That's beside the point. What I know is that they are both ATGs.
Any fighter from past to present, started at 106 could duplicate Pac accomplishments?

lolz PAC did not invent the catchweight, heck its been done since the 20's ...TS, there are twice as much weight classes now, than there was 30 years ago. So we can't realistically compare champs prior with less weight classes to champs post, unless we figure the inbetween weight classes. Also less titles back then, so no cherrypicking.
In short Diaz at 135 & Margarito at a mannyweight of 150 would have been impossible. Slashed him down to 6. Add the extra weight classes to the ones they had back then & yes, fighters could have done what Pacman did.Comment

Although you are right for being too many weight classes as of today, it doesnt mean anybody can be a champion like Diaz as easy as may you think. To be a champ in any weight classes just like today is the same just like in the past. You have to fight from the bottom and keep winning before you can reach to the top then only you can have a chance to fight the champion or fight for the vacant championship in that said weight class. Another way is, if you are a well known current or previous champ at lower or higher weight class is the other way to earn the right to fight the champ or fight for that vacant title. By the way, you should know catchweight fights even for a title were here even before you was born. Therefore, Pac titles at 135 and 154 were legit specially if you considered he started pro boxing at 106. A boxer who started pro at 130 winning titles at 135 and 154 seems nothing special to you but a boxer who started at 106 winning titles at 135 and 154?TS, there are twice as much weight classes now, than there was 30 years ago. In the days of the original 8, there was 1 champ per division. Meaning Diaz would have never been champ & neither Margarito. Meaning even beating Cotto for a title would have been impossible. That's 3 titles this current Pacman has that would have been non-existant. Minus the newer classes that wouldn't have counted.Although you are right for being too many weight classes as of today, it doesnt mean anybody can be a champion like Diaz as easy as may you think. Champs from back in the day in this era now woulda had a field day cherrypicking their way to the top, the easiest way possible. Pre-fight day weight in & a whole lot of other things that this era fighters enjoy that yesteryears never had.
Understand this yesteryear 126-135-147
Now 122-126-130-135-140-147, simple simple stuff.Comment

I will make it simple. So when you start boxing right now, do you think you already have a record of 20-0 or 0-0? Do you think you have to beat them one by by one to be on top? Sound easy right? You dont know that for some reason, the champ vacant his titles and this has to be fought by current top fighters in that division? SMH. IDK why should I explain it to you.Last edited by straightleft; 03-08-2012, 08:43 PM.Comment

1-margo was coming off of a ko and a year suspension
2-angulo was the #1 guy for the wbc at 154
3-neither manny nor margo were legitimately ranked at 154
4-sergio was stripped of the belt for no damn reason
5-it wasnt even at 154
how in the hell is this legit?Comment

Bro you picked the most irrelevant part of my post to talk about. We'll use Margarito again anyway. Yesteryear had 1 champ per division. Neither Pacman nor Margarito was champ at 154, so they would have never fought for a title. Also 154 was not one of the original 8.Comment
