I actually don't even mind Larry at all. But people do need to keep in mind that Floyd hasn't been the only boxer to say that Larry has rubbed them the wrong way.
What the problem is, is Mayweather can not take someone telling him exactly how it is. He hates when someone pops his bubble to reality. Mayweather is a great fighter no doubt, but he has major flaws, before, during, and after fights. For him to say Merchant knows nothing about boxing is like saying ALI is not a great fighter. Merchant has been one of the best, if not the greatest boxing analyst in the sport. Merchant says and explains what most people wont, the truth!!!
merchant clearly doesnt like floyd. say what u want, but it was merchant who started this war, sure floyd might have taken it far, but lets not act like merchant didnt cast the first stone.
Why are you so anxious to "pin" something on Merchant, and of all things, to use New testament metaphor to illustrate your disdain? Who cares who "started" it, they are both grown men, and Merchant just does his job the best way he knows how. He's been the top interviewer and people wait until his last few words just to hear what sort of gem he may produce.

If an interviewer doesn't ask the hard questions, he isn't doing his job properly.
I don't particularly like the guy but he's not scared to bring the questions to fighters if they've fought dirty or not measured up to their pre-fight boasts. He acts as a good intermediary between the general public and the boxers themselves.
war is a figue of speech, stop being an ass. and merchant has criticized floyds fights on numerous occasions irregardless of what he has said in the ring afterwards. but i dont expect u to know that, u probably havent seen any fight but the hatton fight, which im sure ive watched over 100x or so waiting for a different outcome.
And why? because many of them have been boring, that's just the reality.
Merchant's not saying anything the vast majority of boxing fans haven't said about FMJ's major bouts. Mayweather just didn't like someone telling him how it was instead of kissing his a$$ like those leeching yes-men who hang around him do.
Then whenever Merchant actually praises Mayweather, he doesn't even listen and blows up on him.

lol, yea, by being drink and continuously expressing his distaste for a style of boxing? some professionalism. honestly, if u think what merchant does passes the scrutiny of journalistic integrity, then i dunno what to tell u. ur a fool.

Roy Jones has gotten into it with him on air a few times for trying to tell him stuff when Roy was the one to actually take punches in the head.
I don't so much care about Merchant criticizing Floyd, but rather that he INTERRUPTED Floyd while he was busy trying to thank God and his camp and family for his victory. That is some low class BS and you'd think a guy like Merchant would know better. I guess he really is a senile old drunk.

is merchant acting in his capacity as a fan when hes commentating? is that his job to tell us how boring a fighter is? really? i honsetly dont care what a majority of fans think. a majority of ppl think justin beiber is a great singer, do i frikkin care. merchant's job is to call a fight not tell us over and over how this fighter is boring while this other fighter is exciting. all of that is subjective, and i honestly dont care for his opinion.

Does that make the people who give awards for excellence in journalism fools to? Merchant hasn't changed his style, people have just changed how they think an interview should be conducted.
