People believe what any website writes these days. I've never even heard of the site and GB secured a deal with the Barclays arena in 2010...LOL

Let's say this source is wrong, but this actually ends up being the big news, from a more credible source, If this was really the big announcement then it's a dissappointing one. We already have FNF to broadcast Boxing's cheap fights. Boxing on CBS will just be FNF part 2. People act like we're gonna see B class fights there, we're gonna see the same type of fights we see on FNF. Highly touted up and comers vs a no-hoper/gatekeeper/old named opponent.

CBS can be used to rebuild the HW division. Put American HW's on there to headline events with fresh under cards of up and comers.

I disagree. They can get a higher class of fighters. The allure of prime time and the pressure to put on a good show will be immense. This kind of exposure, if managed well, can bring in a huge amount of new fans. To say it'll be another FNF's seems like the perspective of a pessimist.

Network TV is a big deal. Stop trying to lower your expectations.

Still if this is true, I don't like exclusive deals. I think the only way it can really work is to have all the major promoters involved not just golden boy.

Its a step in the door. A test run you might say. If GB can bring in the ratings short term this might open the door for deals with the rest. A non exclusive deal like Solo Boxeo did this year.

But surely if Goldenboy does secure a deal like this, it'll put pressure on Bob Arum and Top Rank to secure an identical deal for themselves, I believe Bob Arum even said so himself that he is in negotiations with some "major networks" for boxing. And the more exposure boxing gets the better. Regardless.

Network tv is where all the champions should go to defend against their subpar mandatories that HBO and Showtime doesn't want to buy. It'll attract the bigger names even if they don't get paid well because at least they'll get some good TV exposure. Berto and Martinez could have kept their belts that way for example.

Ugh gross. I'd rather have them broadcast MORE fights on HBO or something. Public networks suck and are cheap.

The main reason boxing got really popular again in Mexico, was network TV, so hopefully they will do the same in the states and show some decent fights.
