Lucien "Let 168 eliminate itself" Bute...

That guy needs to work his way up like everyone else had to do; not wait until guys lose and use the ol "I wasn't invited so I'll fight the loser's" excuse.

I can understand why Andre Ward doesn't want another big fight, he won that tournament and he has the right to enjoy the benifits of it.

Imo, Kessler should have said yes to fight Bute, after fighting Froch in Nottingham and Ward in the USA, Bute will certainly have a few fights in Montreal, so Kessler will have lost his chance to fight Bute in his hometown and will also get less money.
Dude. Bute send Kessler a lowball. Boxing is a business so why take a ridiculous offer?

So exactly who is qualified to meet Ward if Bute has to work his way up?

Ward only fights in Oakland. So when were the olympics in Oakland?

Hahahaha exactly what I was thinking. Who else was Bute suppose to fight while the Super 6 tourney was going on? Now he's trying to get the best guys from the tourney and sounds like Froch was the only one willing to get in the ring and fight.

I didn't know they had an olympiad for the pros?

We've had this conversation before. You don't remember?

                  Ummm, Tavoris Cloud

Here are the official break downs/ timeline on why Bute vs Cloud didn't happen "before" Bute fought Johnson.

Long story short, Bute called Cloud out for a 173lb catchweight fight. Team Cloud gladly accepted; only for Team Bute to turn around and decline their proposed fight because Bute was waiting on the SS winner.

My whole point is Bute had the chance to solidify his stance as "deserving" a shot at Ward, by fighting Cloud. Instead, he chose to fight Glenn Johnson coming off a loss, while admitting Glenn to be his "toughest" opponent to date.

To me, that doesn't prove "deserving" of anything, regardless of rankings.

Can't say the man only fights in Oakland when that is clearly not the case. What Ward is doing makes all the sense in the world to me and more fighters should do it. Build up a fan base in your own town first before you try to branch out. gary russell jr is from the DC area and has been a pro for 3-4 years and still hasn't fought in this area. Now when he at the table asking for money do you think he should bank on hometown folks traveling to see him fight? Hell no cause he hasn't given them a reason to. Guess what more DC are folks willing to travel to see Peterson vs Khan cause he brought a big fight to his area besides having a few small fights here already. I did read on a local DC boxing blog GBP trying/working on trying to get a fight card at the verizon center in dc for the summer and Russell jr will be on that card if it comes off.

In my opinion a win over Froch in England would solidify Bute as the legit challenger to Ward.

This is a make or break fight for Bute. Lose and people will say he was overhyped. Win and the hoopla will be certified.
