I agree with this but in the modern era Marquez will always be my number 1 even ahead of Floyd. Skills aside, his spirit and attitude emobodies what boxing is all about, and his conduct outside of the ring has always been exemplary.

the first two pacquiao fights were very close. manny was given a decision in the second (with which you cannot argue was a robbery, given how close the fight was,) and they drew in the first. close fights.


the third fight was a robbery
i have a hard time giving pacquiao anything more than four rounds, and most of the marquez rounds are frankly easy to score.
very few (if any,) media members at ringside scored the fight for pacquiao


marquez had a great career as a FW and then became a lightweight and a true warrior late in his career long after most smaller guys have stopped fighting

he was in gunfights against katsidis and diaz because he was:
a: on the darkside or thereabouts of 35
b: in with two very good fighters against the right style
c: letting these guys get close and beating the tar out of them by the end of the fight


there are plenty of great fighters from this generation

i think mcgurt is perhaps overreacting to the recent pacquiao-marquez fight, which was by far the most one sided of the three fights.
if he thinks that fight proves to him once and for all that marquez is the greater fighter then so be it
everybody has an opinion.

Jmm has had a very good career but he is no better than PAC IMO. I agree I felt PAC lost just. However PAC did also land some good shots and made jmm kiss too. The close rounds were very close but PAC could have edged those because he put the pressure on and is the champ.

Agreed Marquez beat Pacquiao 3 times and never got the decision from jusdes who based the fight on politics outside the ring than the action inside it. The decisions were predetermined with Marquez needing KOs. All these stans saying people hate on Manny NO, real boxing fans know what skill is. Manny wouldnt last wih the ATG skills of an azumah nelson or a sal sanchez. Wheras Marquez and Floyd would.
Manny=tremendous athlete
Marquez=Tremendous skills

Didn't JMM openly duck Robert Guerrero and Amir Khan? I found it funny and telling he wanted Lamount Peterson but not Khan. He avoided fighters who didn't suit his style. In my book the greats don't do that.

R Mayweather forgot to mention Duran fought everyone, while JMM and ESPECIALLY Floyd didn't. Neither can be mentioned amongst SRR SRL, or the rest.

Floyd sure as hell can't be mentioned amongst those cuz he was never fearless. Just too much ducking, too much retiring, too much excuses, too much talking and not nearly enough fighting.

The thing is that Floyd duckweather avoided most of the best fighters of his generation, back in the 70's, 80's and 90's he wouldn't be able to do that so he wouldnt be as overrated for having his "0" as his today because if he would have fought in those times he would have some losses on his record, but he still is the best fantasy fighter ever lol and the GOAT of ducking, mark my words he would never fight PAC or Martinez he is scared ****less of those two, I would also like to see him fight Lara and Kirkland but he probably won't fight them either, if he beats Cotto he is going to fight canelo next but if he losses he will rematch Cotto or if he gets knocked out then he wil blame it on the weight and be will give Guerrero a fight.

McGirt is only half right. Those two are great but not truly great.

Marquez got kd by katsidas and lost to chris john and lost 3 times to Pac.

Floyd ducked and dodged and retired and sucker punched his way to where he is now. He is however the ATG when it comes to ducking and dodging.

The truly greats of our era are both Klits, BHop and Pac. This is in no particular order but if I had to put them in order I would put the fighter of the decade first and yall all know who that is.

Pacquiao fans still cannot understand the distinction between a knock-down and a knock-out. Who cares if JMM was dropped by Katsidis? Hey got up and whooped that ass, just like he did to Pacquiao. Pacquiao was Knocked down and OUT by Rustico Torrocampo and Medgoen Singsurat! No one has ever knocked out Marquez and with the exception of the Mayweather loss, every other decision loss on JMMs record was either controversial or an outright robbery.
