LOL is that even a question. If you dont think so then i dont know what else you call a "PRIME" prize fighter retiring after fighting Hatton (Who everybody knew wasn't on Cotto's level) and not fighting Cotto and when asked about it, it was just excuse after excuse. But o'well. hopefully that vintage Cotto comes out and whoops his ass for ducking him back then.

Margarito is the only fighter at 147 that I can geniunely believe Mayweather ducked, Arum was willing to put Margarito in with Floyd because he had everything to gain, Margarito didn't have a big following, Cotto on the other hand was been built and Arum wasn't willing to risk him in any fight that he would end up losing, If you are a Top rank fighter and a cash cow there is no way Arum would risk you in a fight that involves another fighter from another promotional company unless the fighter is from Top rank.

          3. so floyd refused to fight a guy who wasn't even special? that seems right up his alley to me. guys like baldomir, ortiz, judah but he couldn't squeeze in an unspecial cotto for huge money? darn.

          (2) When did Mayweather turn down a career high payday not to face Cotto? When was this career payday offered by Top rank? I seem to remember him turning down a career high payday to rematch De la Hoya but hey you guys can rewrite history as you love.

Short answer NO. He never ducked Cotto.

You are right we cannot rewrite history, which is why we really can't change the fact that Floyd said that “I’m not going to let boxing retire me, I will retire from boxing”, when he was asked by Larry Merchant on HBO (after the Hatton fight) if he will fight Cotto.

Most people on this forum will just say that Floyd ducked him, a bit pointless when most of us know that it was all down to Bob Arum, even people that know that will still nit pick at Floyd and say he ducked him.
