Just a few points: 1.) Isn't FLoyd the one who started this "leftover" concept? Kinda funny how it's coming back to bite him in the ass. . . Even though I like the fight.
2.) Cotto is NOT a natural 154 pounder - you can tell from his weigh-in pictures he looks a little bloated. . . He even has some love handles. . .
3.) There is a difference between "draining" yourself to make weight, and simple dieting and training your ass off to make weight. Cotto simply doesn't want to DIET, and he doesn't have to when training to make 154. . . He was not "drained" when he fought Pac @ 145 - he simply had to diet a little bit more than when he made 147. . He came in at 146 against Clottey. . . Without a doubt, he was in the best physical shape of his career @ 145 against Pac.
I think that's utterly laughable. His best physical shape career wise was probably against Mosley, then Margarito.

You're a ******. YES he came in @ 146 against Clottey, but did he look sensational???? NO. Just because he made 146 doesn't mean that he was in good health, which he didn't look so great besides fighting with that cut.
2nd, Does anyone know that the less bodyfat you have the harder it is to lose weight? Because a person makes a certain weight, does NOT mean that it will be easy to go lower. That is abusing your body. All you guys who say that 1 pound doesn't make a difference don't know shht about making weight.
The more you lose weight, the harder it will be to lose that extra pound!!!
1) Floyd Mayweather is on record admitting that if he were to fight Cotto, people would say that he's fighting Pacquaio's leftovers. Then he said, if were to fight Canelo, people would claim that he's too inexperienced. And therefore, he really, really wanted to fight Pacquiao. But since that fight couldn't be made, he had to eat between these two alternatives.
2) Cotto is not a natural 154 pounder, I agree. But for different reasoning. He walks around 165-168 lb. So in my mind -- he should be fighting in the Middleweight division, not even Jr. Middleweight.
3) A guy walking around at 165-168, dropping to 145 is a big deal. Not even healthy to begin with.
1.) Why couldn't Floyd simply split the revenue 50/50? He only has himself to blame for not getting the fight made (at least this time around). There is no such thig as "leftovers' - it's ******. . . All because a fighter gets beat, or even KO'd, DOES NOT mean they are "lesser" of a fighter. . There are plenty examples of this throughout history.
2 and 3.) That is wrong; 95% of boxers walk around 20-25 pounds heavier than their target fighting weight. They lost the initial 10-15 pounds by gradually restricting their caloric intake, and training hard; then, they go into the final 72 hours before weigh-in about 8-10 pounds over the weight (ALL WATER WEIGHT), and they dry themselves out by restricting fluid and solid intake. . . This is perfectly safe, and healthy. . . THen they will rehydrate that water weight within the 24 hours before the fight. By your belief, 95% of all boxers are "weight drained". . .

Cotto carries around more than enough bodyfat to "cut" to make 145. . . Just look at him at 154! He has LOVE HANDLES!!!
I think that's utterly laughable. His best physical shape career wise was probably against Mosley, then Margarito.
No; by having to lose that extra two pounds he trained harder, and ate better. . . Cotto is only 5'6'' with a small frame. His measurements - chest, arms, calves, etc. prove this.
it is utterly laughable to say he was "weight drained", when he came in at 146 against Clottey. . . Sorry, but Cotto has plenty of bodyfat to cut without burning muscle to get to 145. Clottey was just a bad style for Cotto, and even with a cut eye, Cotto fought pretty good. He threw over 600 punches, including over 60 punches in the championship rounds - this is NOT indicative of somebody who is "drained".
If both Mayweather and Pacquiao are successful on their coming respective bouts, the logical way to settle the PURSE issue should be 60%-40% SPLIT to the Winner. Otherwise, there will be no FIGHT and the BULL**** will go forever. If this term is not agreeable, it means that they do not want to fight each other, PERIOD.
b.ull****. you dont make a champion come down in weight to fight you, either you come to them or you dont fight em period. mayweather is no MW, better to fight one of the best at 154 than to make the best at 160 come down.
dont get me wrong i wouldve rather seen him fight alvarez at 154 than cotto and i agree cotto aint the best fight at 154, but its better than martinez if it means he has to come down.
LOL @ Cotto being a "natural MIDDLEWEIGHT! Hahaha. . . The guy is 5'6''; jsut LOOK at his pictures weighin in at 154! HE HAS LOVE HANDLES! MOREOVER< he only rehydrated to 153-155 when fighting at WW. . . THIS IS average rehydration weight for a guy fighting at 147. . . Even a little bit less than normal. . . Ortiz rehydrated to 165, does that mean Floyd fought a "weight drained" Ortiz?
