Chisora approached David Haye and from the photos, looks to have made physical contact first, before any punches were thrown. David Haye was merely talking, but Chisora should not have gotten up and walked over to him in the first place. It looks as though Chisora removed his jacket on the way over to Haye, also, which indicates that he was expecting to get physical. Don't see how David Haye is at fault in this, other than being rude at a press conference.

when VK and Chisora were that close it would be impossible to see the slap coming, and VK has been in that position many many times throughout his career and is used to just keeping calm. he had no reason to expect it.

well actually haye WOULD be able to argue self defence. Chisora had stated verbal intent to slap him and had done the same thing to somebody else the night before, so haye could easily argue he believed he was in danger of similiar treatment. On top of that in assault cases it is the person who first laid hands on the other (not necessarily the person that threw the first punch) that is viewed to be the agressor. Its clear that though haye threw the first punch Chisora had first put his fist to haye's chin. Anyway anybody here who says if they were in Haye's shoes and somebody like chisora came rumbling down to them like that that they wouldn't ...
