Floyd is the better all around fighter. Cotto does have an excellent jab and good timing that can't be counted out. This won't be as one sided as most think

Floyd can't apply pressure like or better than pac?. I suggest you go watch the mosley ortiz fights

2. It was not Pacquiao's speed was the main problem it was his pressure that Cotto could not deal with, same with Marg first time round. Floyd cannot apply that pressure.
3. Mayweather likes getting hit less that Cotto. Cotto is quite good defensively and has a decent chin and can counter and will always be a threat.
4. Cotto opposition has not been of the highest standard but neither has Mayweather's, Cotto beats Marquez, Mosley and Ortiz.
5. Cotto is a very accurate puncher and does not waste punches, he is not going to just throw punches against Mayweather's guard, he will pick his spot, he has learned from his Pacquiao experience.

If he thinks he could land a big one and then take advantage or just hope to back Floyd up and pound away when he is on the ropes then it over before it has begun for Cotto.
And even if he resurrects his old self, he has a slim chance.

Ive never seen Cotto outboxed.
Dont mentioned Clottey, who had a advantage when Cotto had that bad gash and could barely see but still held up his own.
In Cotto's losses hes been out muscled or out "physicaled"
Can Floyd outbox Cotto? Not a doubt, but will he be "so easy" like you guys think itwill be? I doubt it. Cottos always been a under rated boxer imo, he has the experience from earlier and his olympic days and amateur background. I wont be surprised if Cotto doesnt LOOK LOST when he fights Floyd.
Floyd has the speed, defense, skill over Cotto, yes. But Floyds pace and lack at power at 47+ will benefit Cotto just a bit. And maybe thats all Cotto needs at this point.
Floyds accurate punches will break down Cotto's face so expect to see Cotto swell up a bit IMO. But I think Cotto does good in this fight on his account.

People are trying to build Cotto up as a credible opponent for Floyd, in response to Floyd taking Pacs leftovers. But in reality it has been proven that beating Margarito is not good preparation for beating Floyd. Look at SSM beating Margarito as evidence, considering Margarito as a fighter is totally opposite to what Floyd is as a fighter.
So people shouldnt say Cotto is credible now for Floyd as he beat Margarito. But having said that, Floyd hasnt taken many challenges of late so i expect Cotto to give Floyd a competitive fight.
If i rated Floyd really highly i would expect him to have an easy night, but the reality is i dont rate Floyd that highly.Last edited by hugh grant; 02-10-2012, 06:53 PM.

The most skilled fighter he's fought is Manny Pacquaio and he beat the **** out of him.

He fought Mosley. Boxed his ears off.
He won't out-box Floyd however. He's too basic, slow, and his best punch is nothing to Floyd. Cotto's jab.
