Non issue since its a double edged sword.

He's coming in weight drained, and slower, sluggish.

He regains the weight, but in a fast and dangerous way. Plus, not like hes the only guy thats ever done this.

Not the first nor last fighter to do so.

Its how the weight works in boxing with the weigh-in being the day before, Actually 31 hours before Jrs. fight on sat

Bring back same day weigh in

REED what up bruh? I was not knocking Roy Jones as he was one of the few to come back and fight after a BIG knock out. Paul Williams is another to get backin the Ring after that kind of one punch knock out. Ricky Hatton retired after he got laid out no? So be easy big BAN MAN. I am only trying to get the boards going with some other topics besides the obvious ------------------>

          I'm JOKIN, son.

Hatton came back after the Floyd KO... but Pac finished him off.

That isn't the point. The point is it is dangerous for him and its dangerous for his opponent. This is becoming more and more common, and besides what I just pointed out it hurts the integrity of having actual weight classes.

Agreed. Same day weigh ins and one title per division would help bring boxing back to the mainstream.

I was looking at the fight much dissatisfied with the pace and overall unity in his corner. Between Freddie Roach, Ariza and his father JCC Sr I am surprised the kid can get any instructions at all. His father stands there expressionless swinging his arms and shadow boxing with his son in the dressing room and then leads him down the isle like some kind of dictator. It has to be hard for this kid being in this situation. I was thinking all of this without knowledge of his DWI prior to the fight and or his weight issues.

Post fight my mind set has changed dramatically overall. Seeing how he handled the media, his corner and Rubio and still manged to win the bout and then admit if he fought the way he did tonight against Martinez he would have lost really opened my ears. Here is a young kid pretty much on the top of the world admitting that he needs more training and that he is human and makes mistakes. I take my hat off too him for that. Overall he has improved some and I like his heart and the fact he does not abandon his game plan no matter what......LEFTY
The answer to the problem is right there bolded. He is in a lose, lose situation. He is the son of a legend...........a LEGEND in the sport of boxing and he will NEVER live up to his fathers accomplishment.

I believe if his name was Julio Gonzales we would say he's a decent fighter, maybe nothing special but we wouldn't be as hard on him as we are. Now I understand he benefits from having his fathers name but at the same time he is heading to a dead end street that will result in nothing but ridicule from the rest of the boxing world because everyone is waiting for this kid to lose.

I feel bad for him, I really do. He needs to train harder and take this thing more seriously but he still will never live up to the standards set for him.

I think the 24 hour gap is a good thing in a business sense and as a fan AND as a health issue BUT i do think some of these guys are coming in Waaay too big and that there should be some sort of cap

If a guy needs to melt himself down so far the he needs to rehydrate 20 plus pounds it isn't healthy for him or the opponent who is coming in at or close to weight. If you can't safely make weight you don't belong in that division.

I give him a lot of credit though... at the end of the day, his dad can't get in there and fight for him. He's gotta get in there and win the fights himself, which he's done so far. He definitely won't be what his dad was, but a lot of sons of former boxers never made it as far as he has on his own either.

I don't think anyone realistically expects him to be equal to his father, anyway.
