You didn't answer my previous question. Was Shane Mosley the best welterweight when Floyd fought him?

Say what you want about Malignaggi, he was one of the better fighters at 140 and Hatton destroyed him after Floyd. Cotto had beat Clottey, and if you don't think he won then Clottey was coming off a win and you can't say he was coming off a loss then.

There are also a lot of people who thought Morales won the second Barrera fight, so it's not like he looked terrible going into the first Pacquiao fight either.
He also beat Pacquiao the first fight, than looked like cra about Raheem in a loss, than Manny beat him.

You are right about Hatton and Cotto though. It shoudl be mentioned that Hatton was coming off a loss to Floyd, as well as good wins against Malignaggi and Lazcano. Still, Hatton was past his prime-still good. I don't think anyone considered Hatton prime going into the Manny fight. Still good, not prime.

Cotto was past his prime-still good as well, pretty much the same as he is now. After the Margarito loss, he beat Jennings to win his title (i mean, really?) and than fought a tough fight with Clottey.

Cotto and Hatton were the last fights that Pac fought a legit fight, both good wins in my book. That's why if there's not May-Pac, I hope it's Mayweather-Cotto at 154 and Pacquiao-Bradley. That'd be fine with me.

Well the argument because everyone else was doing is a poor one.

And I have not brought in the compare and contrast Floyd & Manny debate to this thread and you were responding to a post of mine.

Clottey may not be great, but he put up very good fights against Margarito and Cotto. If he had any guts whatsoever he might have beat both, so Pac deserves credit IMO just for blanking him out the way he did.

Since then though, ugh. As bad a run as a fighter in his position could possibly have.

Cotto and Margo didn't really have much time on top while Floyd was active. Floyd beat Baldo who was the champ in Nov of 06--I'm ranking him ahead of Margo at the time because he'd beaten Judah, who was no.1. Following that, Margo was briefly the no 1 contender while Floyd fought Oscar at 150 in May (I think Oscar was better than Margo and the fight obviously made financial sense for Floyd). In June, Margo lost to Paul Williams. Cotto wasn't on top until 08 when Williams lost and then Margo was on top later after beating Cotto. Margo and Cotto controlled 08 while Floyd took time off, which doesn't quite count as ducking. Mosley was on top when Floyd came back. If anything, Floyd ducked Paul Williams by fighting Hatton, but Hatton was a much bigger draw so it's understandable.

Manny didn't want to find out...Shane called him out in his OWN GYM..

If Margarito called Floyd out in his own gym ya'll would never let it go..!

When Shane was Champ PAC DUCKED HIM...Freddy said "Shane...you're just too good"...

                  You tell me..

Who was better at WW than Shane at the time Floyd fought him???

I completely agree. Mosley was the best fighter at welterweight when Floyd fought him. He had earned that right in his previous fight. You know how? He knocked out the guy who had been the best, Antonio Margarito. You know how Antonio Margarito earned the right to be called the best welterweight before Mosley? He stopped Miguel Cotto, who had been the best welterweight when Margarito beat him. Which makes the post below completely wrong:
