see its not that us cubans dont support our fighters is that not many cubans live in las vegas or new york and thats where mainly the fights take place puerto rican fighters when they sell out is in new york and mexicans in los angeles or las vegas they wouldnt sell ouyt anywhere else if you did a gamboa fight in miami it would sell outttttttttttttt.

The thing with these attributes is that pressure and willpower overcomes those things. Gamboa would have to be on his bike a lot. Reach and timing beat speed as Forrest showed against Mosley. Gamboa is going to get hit a lot cause Rios throws punches all night.

Pressure and willpower can overcome those things. Of course, that's assuming that Gamboa has inferior willpower. We're also assuming that Brandon has the kind of timing that nullifies Yuri's blinding speed, which is yet to be determined. But I agree (as I've already stated in an earlier post), ten or more rounds are a long time to avoid getting caught.

he went 8 rounds with ponce de leon who's a damn big puncher without getting caught. granted, him and rios are very different but it shows gamboa has a patient side and can do many different things to frustrate and outclass his opponent rather than just blitz him outta there. lopez might have sparked ponce de leon but i don't believe he woulda managed to get through a full fight without it getting very messy.

Correct: Ponce De Leon and Rios are very different. Plus, Daniel wasn't as aggressive in that fight as I expect Brandon to be. There are a lot of variables in a potential Rios-Gamboa match-up. Size is an obvious factor. If they were the same size, I wouldn't hesitate to say that Yuriorkis beats Brandon. As it is, I have to believe that Rios gets the edge. There's a reason for weight classes in boxing. At some point, the good small man gets beat by the good big man. Is 135 Yuri's limit? As you say, "Have to wait and see...."

just like Casamayor vs. Seda did, all that no fan base crap are excuses, Casamayor was avoided like the peste back when he was in his prime, Lara is being avoided just like Gamboa and now Rigondeaux, Arum didn't want to pitch Lopez against Gamboa because he knew that Lopez got zero to no chance of winning, Golden Boy threw Lara with the Lions in his 16 fight, he want to clear the path for Remolacha, that backfire and now he just doesn't know what to do with EL, don't expect a fight involving Rigondeaux and Donaire, and we all know what Gamboa has to do in order to get a meaningful fight, jump two divisions, but wait, there are other Cubans that can't get a decent opponent, Franco, Salinas, Collado, Garcia, Perez, Santana etc.., and when they do the opponent is running scared, ppl for over half a century the Cubans has being absent in the pro games, not anymore, get use to because they will keep on coming.

buddy I c where you coming from, but this is a Great fighter against a good fighter, I believe the size will not matter, Gamboa started his career at 130 and he had the power and speed back then, it will look like the Ponce fight all over again.
