But after rewatching a couple their fights I'm less confident.

At this point I'm callin' it a tossup.

Regardless, I hope they make this fight and will be rooting for Yuri.

If he wins convincingly it should catapult him to the upper echelon of boxing stars.
Dont think he will ever be a boxing star,Even if he beats rios.Hes already 30 years old and still has no fan base.Cuban fans are the worst ever.

A Gamboa win would be enormous. It's the sort of thing that has captured the public's imagination with regards to Pacquiao. Whether you buy the hype or not, the idea is that everyone loves to see a little guy that can take on the big guys and win.

Like I say, Gamboa will coast to an UD with his superior boxing and speed and I'd not count out a KO by Gamboa, he pack a punch on both hands... Rios will no be able to catch Gamboa and will get frustrated, he will disregard defense and will follow YG, he will get tagged repeatedly and will get hurt...

I agree completely with the bold.

Many fighters instinctively lash out when caught with a good shot. Trouble is, in this case, that would play right into the hands of the naturally bigger man. Yuri has to resist the urge to engage in a firefight. If he doesn't, it'll be a short night.
i agree, rios is massive but i dont think he has that one punch ko power he wears fighters down from a ton of punishment, if gamboa can box early i think this fight is def winnable and would be HUGE for his career. Cube you guys have some really good pro fighters now but i think gamboa could be one of the greatest cubans out now, luv his attitude and explosiveness

Why wouldn't he ever be a star? He's often exciting to watch. He's fast and flashy and wins frequently by KO.

I think it's just a matter of him stepping up his level of comp and accepting some major challenges like the fight with Rios. It's sure to be a barn burner.

Oh and of course he has to win, lol.

Btw, what do you mean by your comment about Cuban fans?

Do you mean they don't support their fighters or what?

This and his flashy style should do the trick.

If he can pull it off.

Yuri is my favorite by far. What can I say? I just like his fighting style. He's fast, slick, powerful and explosive. I try to support all my guys, but you know how it is: a father may love all his kids, but he'll always have a favorite. lol

see its not that us cubans dont support our fighters is that not many cubans live in las vegas or new york and thats where mainly the fights take place puerto rican fighters when they sell out is in new york and mexicans in los angeles or las vegas they wouldnt sell ouyt anywhere else if you did a gamboa fight in miami it would sell outttttttttttttt.
