Money, look at the cash cows of boxing and how well they have being matched, Canelo, Chavez Jr., Donaire, Lopez, I can mention two Cuban fighters that will mop the floor with Canelo (Lara, Jhonson) those same two will teach Jr a few things about boxing, and we all know what happened to Lopez, Pacquio is being fighting washout fighters and out of their weight, and most coming from devastating loses, again money is the name of the game and they might say that Pacquio got the lion share but I don't believe it, there are so much hiding cost that we never know how much they taking home.

Okay, so we agree that money is the name of the game. Now, why would businessmen not want to make money? If there's a significant Cuban fan base, why wouldn't the powers-that-be go after the money to be made there?

That's BS, the only major boxing event was Casamayor vs. Seda at the Miami Arena, and it was packed, hundreds of fans has to stay outside, Ali, Dundee, Gloria y Emilio Estefan, who else, Whitey and me, and a bunch of celebrities from the boxing world, the hard Rock Café is full every time they do a show, like I say, that is alot of crap and some ppl believe it because either they are kids or don't have opinions of their own.

Because they making more money with the other guys, and in Gamboa's case, Arum's is not the sole promoter, he have to split the winnings with the Turk, and will have to put all the money for promotion, etc... Remember they will have to picht Rigondeaux vs Donaire, Gamboa vs Lopez, Canelo vs. Lara, do you really think Arum or GBP will risk losing those guys?
Back in the day Leonard, duran, Hagler, Benitez, Hearns will fight the best no matter what Arum or Don King will say, not anymore, fighters nowdays are hiding behind their managers and promoters.

You have a point with the bold, but it doesn't explain everything. I agree, it's the reason for the Lopez-Gamboa thing. But Alvarez isn't going to be allowed to fight anyone that'll derail his hype-train, least of all a Cuban. Donaire isn't as easily explained. Nonito isn't Manny. If the Cuban fan base is viable, then it's just as strong as the Pinoy fan base, at least with regards to Donaire.

What the hell! A boxer won't be a star because doesn't have a fan base and he is 30? This is the most ****** opinion ever. What about Gamboa skills? What about what he has earned with only 20 fights? What about the people who love the way he fights and wins?

You OBVIOUSLY understand the politics behind Cuban athletes not being mainstream in professional boxing. Stop being such an instigating p@ssy.
