Mayweather himself probably didn't send the email. Maybe Mayweather's adviser, Al Haymon, who knows.

If ESPN ran a televised story with false quotes attributed to Floyd, someone would have come out by now, on Floyd's side, to call it complete fabrication. Especially someone on Floyd's legal end, because the 50-50 quotes could in turn be ruled as a factor in killing the fight and lead to a lawsuit from Floyd against ESPN.

Good point, I am gonna wait a few more hours and see how this plays out.

So far the only respondent is Arum, and he certainly jumped on it like a flash.

Bob Arum has already booked the opponent/venue/date for Manny's next opponent, I am absolutely sure of that, and it does sound funny that Mayweather has suddenly decided to flick off an e-mail to ESPN regarding the negotiation progress.

I have heard Bob Arum state that, but I certainly do not rely on him for accurate information

If the fight does not happen now, it will not take place until May 2013.

Mayweather's surrender date is June 1st, and he will serve approximately 3 months with a little time off for good behavior..... I can't see him fighting Manny 2-3 months later, and Bob Arum will have another pac-payday opponent well and truly prepared by then..... this will delay the fight another year and enable Uncle Bob to milk two more fights from Manny.

I'm not buying this B.S either....Seems to me Arum has already selected Manny's next fight and is looking for a back door out of the fight in an attempt to pin it on Floyd.

I highly doubt Floyd or someone from his team would send an email accepting 50/50 to ESPN to 'inform' them of negotiations. Especially pro-Pac ESPN. Seems like an Arum attempt to use his lap dogs in the media as a way to try to discredit Floyd, get 50/50 later on (which ARUM wants for himself. He'll get it all from Manny anyway) and announce Manny's next fight.

It is odd that Arum is first to jump on this 'development'...

I've just been re-watching the cause of the Mayweather animosity to Arum, and remember when it occurred but had forgotten about it. Mayweather has indeed a small and juvenile mind. I'dswitched on his first Castillo fight, which in my candid opinion Mayweather lost 116-112 or even 117-111. Pure home cooking for Mayweather.
