  • Why does Floyd think he deserves more? People only watch him to see him get beat and thats not a good enough reason to boast more money and he shouldnt be proud of it.

Hes not an exciting fighter so its unlikely people pay to watch his skills and boring style. Pac is the excitement boxing has needed for the last 10 years.

    • well bob, i wont be buying any top rank fights again. there is no reason you cant make the fight on the 5th. just a money grabbin waste of oxygen.

if every boxing fan took that stance we would not have to put up with people who are only interested in making money for themselves.

im starting to hate bob arum even more than john terry, ashley cole, luis suarez (rat face) and jonny evans put together.

that guy is even more eviller than skeletor!!!

      • The collection of idiots that post on this forum never ceases to amaze me.

Floyd has had Bob Arum completely on his heels for the last 2 weeks, forcing him to come up with excuse after excuse for why Pacquiao won't fight Floyd, but now I'm being led to believe that Floyd Mayweather voluntarily emailed a random anchor on Sportscenter with no boxing ties whatsoever in order to tell him that he won't accept a 50/50 split - which is something that Bob Arum, for whatever reason, didn't think would be something worthy of mentioning when he confirmed Mayweather and Pacquiao had a phone conversation.

        It makes absolutely no sense.

I don't doubt that Mayweather would test the waters IN A NEGOTIATION to see what the chances are for him to get higher than a 50/50 split - because that's what you do in negotiations, plus Floyd has a completely legit case for why he should get higher than a 50/50 split, (not to mention the fact that Pacquiao said he would agree to taking a lesser percentage) but it makes absolutely no sense for him to randomly email Sportscenter to tell them that, especially with public opinion swaying to his side over the last 2 weeks.

That being said, if the fight doesn't end up getting made because Floyd refused to accept a 50/50 split, then he should get every bit as much blame as Pacquiao and Arum. I just don't think that's the case.

One thing which always has seemed to be overlooked is that when MannyP said that he was prepared to take a "lesseer purse", this did not not neccessarily imply that he meant less than 50-50. We have no real ideas what percentage of the purse he originally expected to get. After all he is an icon on a global scale, far more known than Mayweather. as if it Yet the crazies jumped on it as if it were sworn testimony.(which itself is not always "accurate")

So it may have been a big concession on his part, during that phone call, for him to say, he'd take 50-50. We' can't really believe any of these stories, constantly "hot off the press", as our past 3 year experience has shown. We will know when the fight is, "when it takes place". As for the purse etc. we'll only know what we're told, whether true or not, and maybe find out in a biography in 20 years , what the exact numbers were.

But, why should we care? Why the crazies froth over it is another question, but since they are genuinely deranged, I think we know why.

Only rarely have 2 star fighters, in the same class, in their primes, fought each other? Perhaps the last noteworthy names were Leonard and Hearns. Maybe Trinidad and Oscar and Mosley and Oscar might just edge in there on the fringes".

As for Mayweather getting his gaol appearance postponed, his "objections" to this are patently contrived. This happens all the time, sometimes for years, and I'd bet real money that a simple application, with a corroborating witness from Top Rank, would be more than sufficient. Even without multi-million dollar attornies.
