I know quite well what it means. When you took Micro-excusonomics 101 you certainly havent missed a lesson, but maybe you should have showed up to microeconomics.

By assuming they can generate another 40 million, you are assuming that seats that are far out of the range of the first 16000, they can sell those seats on average for 1200+ per seat. So to average it out, you would say that some of the seats outside of the 16k perimeter would sell for 4k? Then the nosebleeds would sell for 500-800 or whatever number to average 1200+ per seat?

It makes no sense no matter how you try to spin it. It isn't that I can't wait that long, it's the simple fact that it is a blatant excuse.

And IMO an outdoor stadium COULD very well be constructed by May 5 if it started right away. Nothing about it makes any sense, which is why I am not even entertaining the idea that this could be a legitimate reason from Fraudiao's camp, because it simply does not make sense to the extent that it MUST be an excuse.

He doesn't want the fight. Not May 5th, not end of May, and not in June. He just doesn't want it.
        A) The prices from top to bottom will be considerably more expensive than they were for the DLH-Floyd fight, that's a given no matter where it happens, even Oscar himself admitted as much.

        B) I'm sure by now Bob Arum has figured out he's losing a ton of money via the usual method they sell tickets- ie, through ticketmaster. The tickets are usually sold out within a few days because secondary vendors buy them in bulk and hike up the prices. For Manny-Marquez, stubhub had ringside tickets selling for as much as $16-20K, and nosebleeds tics as high as $1,000, and they were ALL sold out. They could make more by initially hiking up the prices (which they will) and keeping more for themselves instead of letting the secondary markets gobble them up. In addition, by building their own stadium, Top Rank would not be beholden to MGM properties, they would only have Wynn Casinos as a partner, and even that may not be necessary if TR puts up the capital itself, which they very well could.

        C) With the proper configuration, the bolded could be the going price, and even if it wasn't, a $1,200 per seat average might even be more on the conservative side. Hell, they had $2,400 as the cheapest nosebleed seat in Dallas for the Superbowl in a 100K+ capacity stadium. You're thinking way too small.

Yeah... he mentioned it several times before, and even entertained offers from the likes of Jerry Jones (cowboy stadium) who made a $25 mil offer to have the fight in Dallas as far back as late 08/early 09.

guys, we are also talking about a temporary building that's going to be built over a period of many months

three weeks really isnt **** in the grand scheme

it should not derail a fight of this magnitude
for that much money you can pay engineers to make the damn thing happen

get a prefab stadium (have it built in sections to save time and put it together on site)
try something new. you should ahve gotten about five different bids on this thing already if you were serious, and would have your options well laid out and would likely figure out a way to shave three weeks off of the construction

            get some goddamn folding chairs
            i dont give a truck
            they can make this happen
they just arent getting it done

I should bump the threads where these *******s didn't have a problem with May 5, but why embarrass them? There isn't a need because they are JUST like Manny's team, they embarrass themselves ENOUGH.

No, just a guy trying to figure out why it's impossible to move a date 3 weeks for $40+ million extra in the bag. The sentence was already commuted to June 1st, so there's no conflict. The judge isn't going to say no to a Pacquiao fight when she just commuted the sentence for TBA.

I've been of the opinion since Floyd announced he booked the MGM for Cinco De Mayo 2 weeks before Pac-JMM 3 that he did so with the plan of fighting a Mexican from GBP's stable, this is well documented. All this tweeting just backs up the idea he's using Manny's name to pump up interest for the date he picked randomly without consulting or negotiating with the guy he supposedly reserved it for (see Mayweather-Ortiz 'And yes Manny pacquiao, you're next... I never said that').

Just trying to get some more opinions as to why May 5th is this holy, immovable and why a later date (only 3 weeks) could be MUTUALLY agreed upon and more $ can come of it. June 1st is the jail date, May 19th or 26th in no way affects that.

                    So... ideas?

what part of that dont you understand you idiot!!!?
But, there isn't a contract obligation of May 5th to the MGM. However, that doesn't matter, the date shouldn't change. And, the math that has been done. The stadium would bring 5mil-13mil more so than what the MGM would bring. Not the BS 40mil that Arum and Prince is talking about.

That enough to risk this fight not happening. Plus Arum said that he's open to the MGM but in late May which the Prince chose to ignore. There is no excuse for the fight not to take place in May 5th.
