AT JMW? Yea, Canelo has that title now.

I don't think this fight should happen at all, not even at 154. It's a crap fight, no matter what weight it is it won't change that.

So by all means if Pac insisting that the fight has to be at 147 therefor that fight won't happen cuz' of it. Then I say good, I hope he sticks to his guns. Because, if he budges and fight him at a higher weight. Then we stuck with a crappy fight.

And, FWIW Cotto is a free agent. He for the first time is in the driver seat. There are plenty fighters he can take that will be good financially. Floyd, JCC JR, Pac, Canelo, to name a few. If he fights Pac at 147 all the blame goes to him for being that ******. Because, he can fight on his terms or he can go to his other options.

Don't change the argument because you are losing it.
The fact that you can't answer the question shows who is losing. You claimed Mayweather has used a catchweight to his advantage. When? Marquez isn't it.

What am trying to say is, on paper it was, but Floyd never intended to come in any lighter than 146. Throughout, the entire buildup, Ellerbe kept saying it's a welterweight fight. A contract like the $600,000, only say that i will fight you at 144, but if i fight you at full welter it is only fair i make more money. The catchweight is more like in principle than litigation. Pac, on the other Hand, will walk away from the fight if the agreed weight is not met. Not defending Mayweather, because he did deceive the public, but the catchweight talk was just to give the fight credibility in the eyes of the his critics.

        • I thought a Pac-Cotto rematch at 150+ was pointless but this...

Cotto would be a fool if he accepted this (unless he's in it for only $). Hopefully he realizes he has other options and says no and we won't have to waste the first part of the year with a pointless fight.

Man, these guys are so hypocritical when it comes to Manny and catchweights it's not even funny. Mayweather had one catchweight fight while Pac has had several and to make matters worse those were for belts.

Mayweather organised a catchweight fight with Marquez, that Marquez was not comfortable of making the weight.

The weight clearly favoured Floyd even before Floyd ignored it.

To think that Floyd did not have an advantage with the weight in that fight is simply unbelievable.

              • Pacquaio and Mayweather are fighting for legacy at this point (ud think) so they both need to fight each other! Failing that (unforgivable) then they need to fight real threats and top fighters and fair weights

Peterson isnt in either guys league talk of him as an opponent is lame....

Nah the fight was a catch-weight....Whether he never had the intention to make the weight the fight was at a catch-weight. That's why they gave JMM the extra money. Floyd also called out the Prince to fight him at a catch-weight of 128. The Prince didn't want any of Floyd "don't call me Jr" at the time of course.

And, at the end of the day there isn't anything wrong with catch-weight in this era. It's not like the old days. Now you get a whole day to re-hydrate yourself to a healthy weight.

Cotto won't get the luxury of 150 lbs vs. Pac. The reason is because Arum already shot his wad with the "no, can't do it excuse of 150" for Pac vs. Sergio Martinez; even going so far as to rewind history and ask Sergio to do a weigh-in on the same day of the fight (Who remembers that bull**** from Bob?). And Arum is too smart to give DiBella and Martinez the ammunition of shredding Pac's image with a 150 catch scale for Cotto 2. So unfortunately we 'fight fans' are looking at a 148 or 149 (tops) catchweight of Pac vs. Cotto II.

Agreed, the main reason why Pacquiao wanted the 10 million per a pound weight penalty.

Floyd is an accomplished liar, strange that people believe anything that comes out of his month.
