To ordinary people, a single million is a shit load to lose out on but to these greedy, rich, ****** bastards, it isn't much. If arum and his penny pinching ways continue this trend, he could end up losing a lot more by not having the fight at all...or will he?

He could very well make more money in the long run by keeping Manny's fights in-house for the rest of his career. I'm sure that's been the plan all along, hence risking his money maker to a real threat outside of TopRank is a bad, bad idea for the greedy old son of a bitch.
You're talking lot of nonsense. like most of the posters. Arum get's exactly 27% of Pacquiao's purse. The PPV and cable people get 50% of the PPV, and MannyP likely, from other reports I've read in the past, gets up to 80% of the remainder. Arum pays for EVERYHING; arena, advertising, 24/7, hotels, food, undercard, ticket collectors, and arena stewards, referees, judges, drinks, coffee cups, spoons, plates, paper napkins, EVERYTHING.

He takes in a fraction of what the main event fighters get. Top Rank makes it's money by being the largest and best in the business. This didn't happen by accident. They work at it. They have a large volume of promotions all over the world, practically every day of the week somewhere. They do hundreds of promotions a year.

I suggest, that to enlighten your mind, you forget about the "greedy" and all that crap, and look up "boxing promoters" on the internet. It's a business. It will surprise you.

      yeah

      - all the extra seats would have to be sold for an avg of 1200-1400 (depending on amount of seats)

      - you would have to be able to charge the SAME amount for quality seats etc as on MGM which is far from guaranteed.

      - you would have to disregard the $10 or so million that the construction of this **** would cost.

      - you would also have to disregard the increased cost in security, staff etc.

      Sounds perfectly reasonable.

(in actuality, it's probably more like 10-15~ (at the absolute max) extra million or so. And theres a snowballs chance in hell that the fighters would be allowed to split that.

There's more economic sense having it in the MGM than not having it at all Bob...

An extra $40 million my ass!!

The MGM would pull in $20 million which means Bob expects this 45000 seater arena to pull in 60 Million?? Exactly what kind of price structure does this gob****e have in mind.

Last time I checked 45000 seater arenas don't come free & with such a close deadline it'd be likely to cost absolutly MILLIONS!!!

The whole thing makes no sense. He's talking about losing millions by having it in in the MGM....

WHAT ABOUT THE MILLIONS HE'LL LOSE IF HE DOESN'T HAVE IT AT ALL!!

If 30,000 extra people were going to fit in the arena the vast majority would be furthest away from the action ($350 to $150 range). Is Arum aware that in order to get an extra 40 million dollars at the gate those tickets that would normally be $350 to $150 would have to be in the $1,300 range?

If those extra 30,000 seats were $350 it would only be 10.5 million. I am not an expert on how this all operates so can somebody with more insight on how prices are set for seats explain to me where Arum is getting his math?
why the **** would you take the second lowest ticket price instead of the avegage?..

...you know how to do that?...i doutb it..

          but here:
          2000+1500+1000+ 750+350+150= 5750

          5750/ 6(the number of ticket prices) = $958. 33 ($1000=average ticket price)

          30,000 extra seat x 1000 = 30 miliion

now, this computation is based on the ticket prices of floyd vs hoya...

if your talking about floyd vs pacquioa , youre gonna have to use higer ticket prices for sure....the problem here is your **** rough computation..

do you realize the space close to the ring is the same regardless of the arena?

The extra seats compared to MGM would be seats veeeery far away.

Imagine the arena as a circle. Now imagine how to add seats to this circle. You would expand it right? Outwards.

Assuming they managed to get a 50k seat stadium? For Haye-Wlad the rings side seats were 2000-3000 dollars how much did that make on the whole?

No no no you charge a grand for the farthest seats. It all makes sense when you don't think about it.
