Even if Floyd could break that with the courts, he'd then have to break his contract (possibly straining some important relationships in the process) with at least one party associated with the date, and pay subsequent penalties.

I don't know what the deal with the court is. But, Floyd can give up his date with no issues if it doesn't affect the court deal.
