Max Kellerman: Blame is on Manny as well if he doesn't insist on fighting Floyd

It's silly. While we may disagree about the significance of the Greenburg talks, I think a case can be made Mayweather wanted to leave it out to dry because 'f them.' Pure conjecture, but that deal was gold in March 2010 and he conceded on EVERYTHING (testing, the ****** weight stips). That would have pissed me off to no end.It takes two to tango. I have no doubts that the Pacquiao fight was the reason why Floyd Mayweather returned to the ring in 2009. He announced his unretiring the day of Pacquiao-Hatton. He selected Pacquiao's nemesis as his first opponent. He spoke of fighting him non-stop, offering step-aside money to Marquez if Manny would take the fight. His willingness was supported by an unbiased judge who called out Top Rank for lying immediately following negotiation. He called him out by name again a week before Pac-Marquez III, demanding the fight if, in fact, Pacquiao was willing to be tested as he told everyone and their mother he would. It takes two to tango. And one guy refuses to get off the wall.
I don't think either guy fears the other personally. I think Pac's side sweats the fight more than other.Comment

Floyd obviously. Manny had the weight stips and Floyd's side conceded to on 14 days. I think you think I'm being hard on Mayweather. There are fights May seemed to avoid at times in his career. I referenced Johnston earlier; some make a case for Margarito though I think that was more about shedding Arum. Arum might be a great promoter but he missed the boat with Floyd. Floyd became a star in spite of Top Rank and was horribly mishandled. If they'd let Floyd be Floyd earlier, who knows how much bigger he might have been in terms of years.
In March 2010, he was NOT avoiding Pacquiao.Comment

Bob Arum knows how Manny vs Mayweather plays out.
Go look at Sugar Ray Leonard vs Roberto Duran 2Comment

He never was.
Btw, the 14 day stip was never agreed upon by Team Pacquiao. At the time, Mayweather (or the mediator) offered it, Pacquiao countered with 24 days then walked away entirely. Mayweather than told David Mayo that if he was able to outsell Pacquiao with the upcoming Mosley fight, he would only negotiate if the other side agreed to full testing without advanced knowledge. He reiterated this after the Mosley fight. What does Team Pacquiao do? Ask for 14 days.Comment

From what Oscar said(which should be taken with a grain salt I know) to what Greenburg, to what some who's in the industry that I trust told me. I believe that there was some back and forth some sort of negotiations. How far or how serious it was, I don't know. if they were negotiating with true intentions, I don't know. But, do I believe there was some back and forth yes I do.Why don't you explain why people shouldn't believe Ellerbe and Team Mayweather. What would be their motive for lying about negotiations taking place? It's not like they waited until after the fct to deny those talks, they denied that they were involved in any serious talks while those negotiations were supposedly ongoing. When the reports came out that talks were being had, Mayweather's team denied it immediately. Plus Mayweather had just told the world that he was taking another break and wasn't going to think about boxing for awhile. There was no real reason not to believe Ellerbe.
Floyd has made fights before during vacations so that's irrelevant to what he said. Floyd contradicts himself he's done it in the past. But, it's whatever. From what I was told weeks after Floyd-Mosley, Floyd team send a proposal to Pac team. Pac team countered with another proposal. Which irritated Floyd.
Like I said from all the information I got from people who have no reason to lie. I believe there was some talks. Whether they were serious or with good intentions I can't say, I don't know, maybe not. But, was there some sort of negotiations. I believe so, but you can believe whatever you want.
I'm not even blaming Floyd though. It's on Pac to make it happen. Floyd as of right now has done his part. It's clear that Pac is ducking Floyd. He needs to do his part to make it happen now.Comment

I know. Floyd dropped to there, they balked, and then later said that was fine (when it didn't matter) after May said no stips on testing. He never was.

Ok, I understand that you believe that negotiations were taking place, I'm just wondering why you think that Team Mayweather would lie about it. What's the motive in your opinion, did your inside connects have an explanation for that? If in fact the 2 sides did get so far as to exchange proposals then that would mean that Team Mayweather are big liars with no shame. Just don't understand why they would go that far to lie about socalled negotiations, and for what reasons. You say that Mayweather has made fights during vacation, when? As far as I know the only other vacation that he's taken is the 1 right after the Hatton fight. From what Oscar said(which should be taken with a grain salt I know) to what Greenburg, to what some who's in the industry that I trust told me.
