I'm not sure that Alvarez would necessarily whoop Cotto, but I agree that there's no way Arum will make this fight.

If Cotto has any sense he'll leave Top Rank. All Arum can offer Cotto is JCC jr which, considering the size difference between them could do more to Cotto than end his career, and a Pacquiao rematch which, while intriguing, most fans would criticise as deja vu.

If Cotto were to sign with Golden Boy he'd have Alvarez, who despite still being bigger is far more reasonable size wise than Chavez jr. Winning that Cotto could easily be in for the pay day of his life against Mayweather, then call it a career.

I know that Cotto has said that Arum will always be his promoter but I at least hope he has the sense to follow Mayweather's example by being a free agent and hiring promoter's on a fight by fight basis rather than having a long standing contract. This way Cotto can still use Arum to promote his fights like he wants but the advantage is that he'll be free to choose his opponents, including guys outside of Top Rank.

Hopefully Cotto knows the position he' in right now and doesn't let Arum leech off him for the rest of his career as Pacquiao is allowing.

Goldie boy trying to turn Canelo into Fernando Vargas

Canelo is the real deal but a fight with Cotton isn't what he needs. Cotto would out box Canelo then put him away late in the fight. After he faces Cotto he will be the next Fernando Vargas

Kirkland might get sparked again. Especially if Canelo pours it on early.

Kirkland isn't happening, he's already set to fight in March against Molina. If he's really looking to make a big fight, than fight Cotto. If not, he should fight Vanes Martirosyan or Austin Trout at least.

These guys are dreaming. Cotto knows he's done. He'll probably fight
only two more times: one being Pac; and the other being Mayweather.
He wants two big-money fights and will retire thereafter. He's shot.
