If Canelo wants to beat Cotto he needs to let his hands go.

I can see how he can pick Kirkland apart but Cotto is a better more experienced boxer than him and that "be patient pick shots" method will only make him lose a wide UD.

2 much politics vs Cotto to leave WBA & Kirkland fights Molina in a short while, leaving the suggested dates 2 soon...also Kirkland has 2 box Vanes as part of his eliminator after Molina(makes no sense Vanes fighting an eliminator & he's #1)...Canelo's grasping for a legit contender...

I would have to give Canelo mad props for taking a fight with cotto. Kirkland i doubt will be available untill late 2012 due to the molina fight(which should be great) but Cotto vs Canelo would be fairly one sided imo. Cotto looked great against margs and even his fight with mayorga(who was in great shape) was a great show of skill and patience. I see a competitive fight for the first 4 or 5, then it becomes a beating as ginger tires and cotto is in full rhythem. jmo

i just simulated this fight on fight night champion this morning. . .

usually the way the fight ends is similar to how it plays out in real life. this fight, playing as canelo, i beat kirkland in a 12 round WAR. . . I just kept step-back counterpunching him. . . I was really working him over with a basic 1-2-3 jab, straight, hook. . . and then a two-piece and a biscuit, the juan manuel marquez special . . . (1-2 upstairs, followed by a vicious left lead uppercut to the liver). . .

              FINAL PUNCH STATS READ: Kirkland - 242/860; jabs - 28/196. Canelo - 358/856; jabs - 153/367.

Cotto vs Canelo is a 50/50 fight but I would give the edge to Cotto
