He ALREADY fought Froch in the UK and AA, two of the hardest punchers in the division... just by fighting them he's shown he isn't afraid to fight anyone... who was he ducking? Ward? from what? Wards awesome power?

The guys been inactive for TWO years.
    well

    there is the theory that

    1. he was no longer happy with the pay he was getting for the S6 and did not want to commit to it any longer than he wanted
    2. he wanted out of his contract with Shaw (which I think is now happening because Shaw has no presence on his Friday fight)

I do realize that two years is a long time to go away from the sport but this guy does have precedent for doing what makes him in control whether its beneficial to him or not with the AA postponement

he wanted to fight close to home and the gate he thought he would get but with lukewarm sales and heavy discounting the first fight gate probably would have equaled what he made in Detroit

His team complained that Dirrell was being underpaid for the Ward fight and they where looking at a probably defeat and elimination from the tournament. My guess is they rolled the dice and claimed injury hoping that they where believeable enough to get back shortly thereafter. But since they gave no evidence whatsoever of the alleged brain injury and only some vague reference to a family doctor named Shaw-High nobody believed their bluff.

No question that he was being fouled. The full-body seizure afterwards looked a bit excessive though. The real question is whether he received a longterm brain injury (that now miraculously has been cured)?

So he purposely got Smashed by AA so he could claim injury and pull out?

Why not just say you got injured in training camp and pull out?

Why go out there and fight to WIN? Either pull out of the fight, or throw the fight.. he didnt do either..

I'm going to leave it to you guys as I feel like a d1ck questioning someone injury.

However, Dirrells whole tone leading up to the Ward fight let me know he just wanted out of the tourney, for reasons you and earner just mentioned.

I do admit I had no idea about the Shaw contract thing, but that makes sense as I see all of Gary's top fighters looking for ways out of their contract with him.

He could of came back a year ago after his spot was filled... he could of claimed he felt better after a year off and proceeded with his career outside the tournament. He didn't... it's been two years in the prime of his career.

And, you're going to take NO paydays for two years because you were being offered slightly less for one fight?

                I mean, what?

If he wanted out of the tournament why fight balls to the wall against AA? Why not just throw the fight?

Can you show medical documentation that leads you to feel the way you do?

Frankly, none of us are doctors. I know I've said that I thought other fighters were faking in the past during fouls as well. It's completely understandable where this is coming from though.

Just, in my personal opinion, seeing Abraham KO dudes and seeing how hard he hits, I don't think Dirrel was faking.

Dirrell Resume even with a 2 year Layoff is still better then Bute lol...just saying!

Abraham and Froch are both better then all of the fighters Bute Fought!

I think before getting a shot at Ward...Bute should fight some of the Super 6 Fighters like Froch, Kessler, Dirrell

why does Bute gets a PASS to the top of the division for sitting back and fighting bums, average fighters and washed up fighters while the others was fighting each other for 2 years

                    Anthony Dirrell vs Andre Ward
                    Lucian Bute vs Andre Dirrell

I always love when a discussion or thread gets closure from a well informed Boxing fan, and the above post does just that. Great insight, my dude.
