Here are the official break downs/ timeline on why Bute vs Cloud didn't happen "before" Bute fought Johnson.

Long story short, Bute called Cloud out for a 173lb catchweight fight. Team Cloud gladly accepted; only for Team Bute to turn around and decline their proposed fight because Bute was waiting on the SS winner.

My whole point is Bute had the chance to solidify his stance as "deserving" a shot at Ward, by fighting Cloud. Instead, he chose to fight Glenn Johnson coming off a loss, while admitting Glenn to be his "toughest" opponent to date.

To me, that doesn't prove "deserving" of anything, regardless of rankings.

    • Dirrell needs to get back in the ring and see if he can have a good 2012 because the boy needs to bounce back.

NEVER MIND if you thought Dirrell was faking during the Abraham fight...bottom line is that he DOMINATED ABRAHAM most of that fight and it was Abraham who was ****** enough to hit Dirrell while he was down

Bute beats Dirrell based on what? Because some of you just want him to? LOL Boxing don't work like that, Bute haven't fought anybody as fast as Dirrell...I think...NO CORRECTION...I KNOW Dirrell would give him major problems and if the fight is outside of Canada I like Dirrell chances at beating him!

The Bute hype is so LAUGHABLE and it is mostly out of desperation from people who just don't want to give Ward his Props so they are just jumping on the Bute Bandwagon, then if Ward beats him people will jump on Thomas Oosthuize or George Groves or Robert Stieglitz lol
You're missing a very critical piece to this timeline you lay out. Whether Dirrell faked the AA late shot is immaterial and a red herring to what happened months later...which is the fact that ambiguous medical reports on a neuro disorder led him to back out of Ward and the entire tourney. What makes me very skeptical is I remember Dirrell offering very lucid commentary at the Ward & Green fight (which was LESS than 3 months after Dirrell vs. AA) and even giving us fans an insight on how he/Dirrell will outbox Ward. Then later when the Boxing Public was getting pissed at Ward's & Dirrell's promoters for not giving us concrete pressers and promotional material (when a date for the fight was already established but no exact venue), then we LEARNED of the "neuro problems" that Dirrell CONVENIENTLY started experiencing. So to sum up, the deal of "faking" vs. AA is a complete red herring to the events that later transpired when Dirrell wanted NO PART of his "buddy" getting ready to tax that ass.

Whether by luck, or by design, Bute has tip-toed through the tulips.

Ward picked Bika for a stay-busy fight, Bute picked Brinkley and Magee.

Bute needs to fight Froch or Kessler, but Dirrell would be fine.

That's all I'm saying here. I'm not knocking Bute as a fighter, although many might not believe that.

I'm just simply saying that Bute had options to fight other top fighters while the SS was going on, but for some reason or another didn't.

In my eyes, that along with not getting invited to the SS, won't cut it.

Based on Bute's mid-level competition, he's shown great power and potential. We just have to see how it carries over when he steps his game up.
Are you really compared AA to Bute? lol

AA is a middleweight, he looked like a bum imo at 168.

Bute is way bigger and more power in his punch than Abraham. Lucian Bute is 6"2 - 190lbs. Abraham is 5"9 and only beat 1 legit guy at 168.

Sorry but Andrade and Magee are way tougher than Dirrell and they couldn't ate shot in the liver.

At 168, I see Ward beating Bute...Kessler may be.

-Froch get beated in a wide decision (especially since Froch is talking **** on Bute and Bute is actually mad for the first time of his pro career....Bute looked a thousand time better against Glen Johnson and Magee than Froch did...Honestly I had Glen Johnson edging their fight)

-Dirrell is a wuss and could actually get KO'ed.

-Stieglitz is a easy KO target for Bute.

Kessler, Dirrell, Stieglitz, Ward, Froch, Bute, Johnson, Abraham(not really a good 168 fighter).

People are ripping on Bute for fightings guys like Andrade, Bika, Miranda, Berrio, Zuniga, Joppy, Johnson, Magee etc but when you look at it, the 168 division isn't that deep. There are 4-5 really good 168, and then the others guys...

Bute's resume isn't as bad as you make it out to be. Anyway, as far as im concerned, you dont know ****.
