Did Pacquiao duck Zorrita Soto?

No need for me to. You asked me to name a time a fighter chose less money. Regardless to what you think, there is your answer. He chose less money (and a lesser opponent) in Clottey. End of discussion. Not that it's relevant. We don't even know whether his recent opponents sans Marquez would've have netted more or less than others since they won't even release the #'s. What we do know was that he's taken the path of least resistance for a long time now and - as you can see on this thread - it's not the first time he did that.Comment

alright then we can add mayweather to the list since he turned the bigger fight as well. so we have floyd & pac turning down the biggest fight ever, according to your logic, to fight lesser opponents. Cool. Outside of those two examples, what legit fighter (not some protected euro bum like Sturm or some ****) ever turns down the bigger fights & more money instead to fight an unknown for less money?
we already know the numbers for the marquez ppv and the gate which was one of the highest ever. Not that it's relevant. what we also know is that pac vs barrera was a HBO ppv event and that guzman/soto were basically unknowns at the time (and still are), it's quite obvious barrera was the bigger fight and more money for pac.Comment

to add, MAB, after the first PAC fight, went on to win 6 straight including over EM. and gave JMM hell, which i thought he won, after his 2nd pac fight.we already know the numbers for the marquez ppv and the gate which was one of the highest ever.

I said sans Marquez. BTW, I missed HBO issuing those #'s.we already know the numbers for the marquez ppv and the gate which was one of the highest ever.

And that's nice but nevertheless that fight did nothing for his legacy (Barrera II). I really don't care about Manny's pockets. And I don't believe that was the topic here. I understand fighters go with the big cash. But we're discussing whether or not he ducked Soto and he certainly chose a lesser, washed up name over a young hungry fighter who HBO had been featuring and touting. Can't tell me it would've made him more or less because I guarantee you that Soto costs less than Barrera. A lot less. And I guarantee the Pac d*ckriders would've paid to watch him pee.Comment

if pac fought soto it would not have been on ppv, this was before pac was a massive star obviously. it would have been a regular hbo event thus less money for pac. it's really that simple man.I said sans Marquez. BTW, I missed HBO issuing those #'s.

If Pac fought Soto in '07 it would have been on PPV since it would have happened after Morales III and Jorge Solis, both PPV fights.Comment

That's one skewered biased & dishonest way to look at it. The fight would have taken place had floyd not asked for a test never done before in the history of professional prize fighting (at that time) against a fighter with no history or evidence of steroid use.
If floyd fought pac under the same rules, regulation, & requirements he did all of his previous fights (prior to that negotiation) just like pac does, just like every other boxer in the history of the sport, the fight would have already happened.
Pac chose clottey because pac wanted to fight. You fight you get paid. The man has lots of mouths to feed and a extremely tight & busy schedule. The way the negotiations were going with floyd, there was going to be no fight, hence no money.
Pac chose to work & get paid. Not sit on the sidelines letting his opponent dictate what drug test he should take. I mean name me another sport, another athlete that dictates what tests his opponent should take?Comment

Of course it would've been. Not that either one of us can say for sure. Enough with the excuses.Comment
