Barrera was pretty much done at that point and Guzman was the new blood coming up. So yea, legacy wise Guzman > Barrera at that point but $$$-wise Barrera >> Guzman. Many would have done the same.

Yep. It's typical for some to look at names and not the dates.

not fighting soto or guzman doesn't even make a dent on his legacy, though. 10-20 years from now, who the hell is going to know who soto & guzman are?

I agree his legacy has taken a hit the past year or so (fighting mosley then struggling with marquez again) but certainly that's about it. He's already a HOF and considered an ATG, not fighting guzman/soto doesn't change that in the least bit, not even in the most hardcore boxing fans eyes.

When I say it's his legacy that takes a hit, I'm referring to his habit of doing what he did with Guzman/Soto (ie. fight someone not even on the radar for money purposes). Anyway, that's besides the point. Per his habit, he avoided a top challenger/champ in the division in favor of someone the idiots would shell out for.

Manny Pacquiao - see: Joshua Clottey over Floyd Mayweather.

              You're welcome.

obviously the floyd negotiations fell apart and clottey was the next highest rated WW available at the time. pls try again

He could have taken the fight - chose not to and fought someone else for less. Question answered.

I'm not going to get into the whole debate on why floyd-pac negotiations failed (floyd could have taken the fight too, it goes both ways and you know that) so please try again.
