If your career hinges on Dec 17th then why would your team wait until Dec 18th to plan out the future?

The way i see it Froch knew he would lose to Ward. That's why he irritated Bute up until fight night. Froch was presented with 2 scenarios: Fight Ward, then fight Bute or Kessler.

OK so I'm Carl Froch....there's no way I'm fighting Ward, knowing I will lose, without my next fight being a victory.

Can I get that victory against Kessler? Probably not. So if Kessler is next I am NOT fighting Ward.

Agreed. But If Ward wants IBF title the window is small. Only unification fights are ranked higher than mandatories. Means Bute has to ask for an exception from IBF to fight Froch. If accepted Winner is obligated to fight mando or forfeit the title. You can't ask for 2 exceptions to avoid the same guy as per IBF and thay follow their rules to a t.

If Ward fights Bute next it would be unification therefore no exception necessary and Ward could ask for an exception to fight Kessler (or Stieglitz) for all 4 belts.

Therein lies the glory. and Ward is but 2 very winnable fights away from this...

I Think Ward has earned the right to a gimme fight if he wants to. I also think that Ward feels a sense of destiny. He's reaching for greatness and the path to that goal goes through Bute if he remains undefeated for another year. So theyll fight eventually.

Who else is Ward going to fight? Kessler again? Puh-lease. If Bute is going to fight anybody other than Ward it should be Dirrell (and not Anthony) who got a raw deal after the Abraham fight. But seeing as that's not going to happen these two fights with Froch are a slap in the face and an insult to our intelligence. There's no need to go Pacquiao-Mayweather on us, I'm sure Ward's people would be willing to come to Montreal and take the fight in Bute's backyard and get their biggest payday.

no other fight makes Ward a fraction of the money he can make with a Montreal fight with Bute, a fight he can probably win.

I cannot see interbox having the finance to lure Ward to Canada. Ward himself does not bring a lot of extra revenue with him.

Hmmm.... Bute cannot make an offer for an Oakland fight. That would have to come from Wards promotor Goosen. I don't know if he told Bute hé wasnt interested at all but I Think hé said he wasnt looking at Bute ATM.

That being Said Bute was extremely quick in announcing that a deal for 2 fights with Froch was very close.

Why can't he make an offer for an Oakland fight? Yes Goossen is the local promoter but Bedard has also stated that it must be a co-promotion for them to consider making the Ward fight. (call me crazy but that sounds like another intentional stumbling block from Bute)

If the fight was in Las Vegas would Bute also be relying on Ward to make an offer because the location was closer to Ward's homebase?

Whether or not Bute would be fighting at home he could definitely get negotiations rolling by calling Ward's people and expressing a willingness to travel. By all accounts none of that has happened at any point.

My point is only that Bute keeps saying one thing, and then doing another, which you also alluded to in regards to the Froch double.

Bute said he made a huge offer to Kessler. Yet there was never anything to verify that as a truthful statement. He also said he is willing to go to Oakland, which just like his Kessler claim, has no truth behind it.
