It's the champs job is to defend the championship against the best available contender and right now that is Bute not Froch. The best against the best, that's what boxing should be about.

I have no problem with champions taking a gimme fight after a couple of defenses against elite fighters, but before Froch, Ward's last elite fighter was Kessler over 2 years ago. No need for Ward to fight bums, he should fight Bute.

And when Bute is " the best available contender ", then he will get his shot.

To date, Bute has done absolutely NOTHING !!

I dont care what the " official " rankings are......

Froch is definitely ranked higher than Bute, for obvious reasons, as-is Kessler.

If Bute beats either of those guys, then he will become relevant, until then, he can go and rematch Magee in Montreal and stay irrelevant.

FACT: Ward is the man at 168, and Bute is some nobody from Canada.
