The president of Sportscene and InterBox, Jean Bédard, made it very clear - IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute will not chase after, or wait around, for a unification with Super Six tournament winner Andre Ward. After Ward recently decisioned Carl Froch to unify the WBA/WBC titles, he was challenged by Bute. Bedard was advised by Ward's promoter, Dan Goossen, of their intentions to pursue other opportunities.

Just checked IBF ratings. Bute has until April to defend his title voluntarily. Means IBF makes InterBox negotiate with Mandatory 2 months before. There is no mandatory though right now as Andrade and George fight fell through.

IMO Ward has until April or May to challenge for all 3 belts. If he wants the glory he needs to unify the 3 belts now before Bute gets stripped and hope Kessler beats Stielitz for the WBO belt. If Ward beats Bute he can ask IBF for an exception and rematch Kessler. What a fight-Kessler vs. Ward for all 4 belts. WOW

Ward has just spent two years fighting the best SM's out there while Bute's been fighting the Magee's of this World et al.

Bute - fight and beat Froch and the Ward fight is on, Ward has already said that.

Beat a top level guy and then you've earned respect respect and a fight with the proven no:1 in the division.

At the moment you're a strap holder with a reputation for not getting fights with the big guys yet blaming them - whilst they seem to be able to fight each other.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the Froch fights fallen through and it's 'Froch's fault" according to team Bute.

Fight Froch and if your win - fight Ward, then you'll be respected.
