Fight Rubio for less $ than Jr could bring
It's a matter of principle. The belt belongs to Martinez.

Sulaiman made a promise and if DiBella steps aside now there is no guarantee he gets the Chavez fight down the road.

Sulaiman promised Martinez his shot, to get the belt back he should have never lost. This fight isn't going to get any bigger because either man beat up a couple tomato cans.

But not business sense what happens when Jr vacates?
Who can bring the same revenue unfortunate for Serg he doesn't have the financial leavrage anyway if it's a can for Jr then it's a can for Serg at least if Rubio beats Jr he'll have that feather in his cap making the fight more lucrative.

Unless Dibella knows for sure he'll make the fight but to try to force TR when they'll prob NOW demand all aspects be to their approval seems to be a gamble.

Oh well good for Martinez I suppose. Either he fights JCC Jr yet again another mismatch coming off the Barker fight. Or he gets the title and fights Macklin in March.

Good for Martinez. No way Chavez or his people take this fight.

if jr vacates they grab their belt back and go on to face macklin or whatever mando sulaiman might set up for them or the best fight available at the time. you really think arum will put chavez in with martinez? i still have my doubts about him facing rubio. if chavez beats rubio, i can almost guarantee they won't face martinez afterwards, they'll take a light fight. after that they can go back to looking at cotto or alvarez. if rubio beats chavez, then they can go after rubio.

Yes it does. The belts=$$$ when it comes to fighters that aren't huge draws in boxing, particularly dangerous ones. Sergio is no longer getting big fights in boxing because he keeps beating people, and promoters don't want to sacrifice their fighters that sell. However, if he has the belts, then a fighter that wants to be world champion HAS to fight him. (in theory)

Martinez is making decent money as it is, and his money and chance of landing better fights goes up once Chavez hands him his belt back. Arum won't let Chavez near him, but if he has the title and keeps winning, we may see Martinez versus Jermaine Taylor, Arthur Abraham ect.
