I thought Chavez Jr. looked better in his last fight. Maybe in a few more he might be ready for Martinez. Don't think they'll fight anytime soon, Jr. probably vacates and looks somewhere else.

Thing is, Jr. with no belt won't get a Cotto fight either. Cotto's main attraction to fighting Jr. at 160 was a chance to become middleweight which obviously won't happen cause Jr. won't have the title unless Arum pays Martinez some step aside money.

However, if he has the belts, then a fighter that wants to be world champion HAS to fight him. (in theory)

Martinez is making decent money as it is, and his money and chance of landing better fights goes up once Chavez hands him his belt back. Arum won't let Chavez near him, but if he has the title and keeps winning, we may see Martinez versus Jermaine Taylor, Arthur Abraham ect.
Yes and No but is what it is

If Taylor can regain some confidence and look good wouldn't mind seeing that.

I'm glad to see that the WBC isn't showing favoritism towards Chavez Jr.

I'm pleasantly surprised with the way the WBC has handled this, finally.

Now they just need to apply the same principle to Canelo and get him to fight Angulo or Martirosyan, since they are ranked 2 and 3 by the WBC at 154.

Time for Chavez to drop belt & run away.

Now if they would only do this to Canelo.......................

kirkland has to beat angulo, molina, and martirosyan just to become the mandatory while canelo gets to fight gomez, mathew hatton, cintron etc...then when kirkland becomes the mandatory i bet they will elevate canelo to super camp and make kirkland regular champ or some nonsense.

that would be downright pathetic. alvarez has to face a challenge in 2012, their ways have gone about as far as they can go. the 154 division is packed, nowhere for them to run for another year. whether it's lara, kirkland, or martirosyan who he'll face first is a guess though.
