The fight has to happen so we can have a clear king at 168. But, I have no problem with letting the fight marinate a bit. And, Ward deserves a gimme after his run. Make some money...Maybe Bute can go and fight Froch. Would make the fight even bigger if it happens at the end of 2012. But, it has to happen.Comment

He wasn't even the top 1 or 2 fighter at middleweight yet he gets a crack at a Super 6 168 lb tournament? Doesn't make sense.Comment

Haha I know, I just wanted to see where you're at. Bute did beat the count, even though the ref was wrong for telling Andrade to go to the corner 5 times.
But the fact still remains that Bute struggled with Andrade when the tourny was being made. Bute's credibility at the time took a few hits compared to the guys that were in the tourny.
But if anything, I don't believe Taylor should've been in the tourny. He should've retired before the tourny took place. Maybe you're right. Bute should've taken Taylor's spot.
But I also heard that Bute turned down a slot in the tourny. I haven't seen any articles about this though.Comment

Ya i would have no problem with this but i suspect that Froch might want a Kessler rematch (although neither has a belt) plus location would be in dispute. Froch would want it in Nottingham even though he has no belt and can only draw about 7K. Fighting in New York or Vegas might be the best possibility but they won't sell anywhere near the amount of tickets they would in Montreal. The fight has to happen so we can have a clear king at 168. Maybe the Ward vs Dirrell mandatory with Froch-Bute on the same card in Vegas or something or a 118lb matchup too since Showtime has those guys. Moreno-Mares as a triple header?Comment

So people are actually going to say Ward is ducking a guy who hasn't earned his shot now?
Unless the money is right Bute should have to prove himself by having to beat Froch or Dirrell.Comment

oh, I do understand, but it doesn't make that much sense, because Bute has beaten the best opposition and has the most credentials at 168 if we count out the fighters Ward has already beaten and Ward himself of courseNo one is more of a competitor against Ward at the moment than Bute.
But that still doesn't mean that he's earned the right to fight him. This is what you're having a hard time understanding.
No one is questioning Bute as a fighter. But the fact that he hasn't fought the necessary competition to be deserving of a fight with Ward is the problem.
In my opinion, no one should be a mandatory for Ward. Dirrel, Bute, Pavlik and a few others, should fight each other to earn a shot at the title.
which means Bute is deserving
-Bute has been champion for a while, made many defenses
- he has been very dominant
- the level of his opposition isn't as bad as the haters want to make it
you also have to take into account that it is the fight that makes the most financial sense, and financial sense is usually what drives the fighters and the promoters
They should just feed Froch to Bute so that no more excuses can be made about his credentials and his so-called ''right'' to fight Ward, becasue everybody else has been ducking Bute, and Froch is not one to duck or hide, though I doubt he will go straight at Bute, and I can't blame him
then Ward will have to face his mando, who happens to be Anthony, and is far less deserving than Bute in terms of competition faced or business senseComment

He was a top 2 MW. The big fight at the time would have been Pavlik-AA at 160. Pavlik team didn't want it...Neither Sturm want it to fight AA.
But, you right the only reason why AA was in the tourney was because of his undefeated record and being a Saurland fighter.
Same thing with Jermaine Taylor. He was only there cuz' of his name value. It was a business decision.Comment
