Who punches harder: Sven Ottke or Andre Ward?

    Sven Ottke and Andre Ward

These two fighters have a lot in common:

    -amateur achievements
-refuse to leave their home country as pros
    -undefeated
    -excellent defensive skills
-light punchers: they win decisions rather than stop their opponents
-Sven had a home ref against Reid & Andre had a home ref against Kessler

Who is the harder puncher? They seem about the same to me.
    49
    2000 Sven Ottke
    36.73%
    18
    current Andre Ward
    48.98%
    24
    both about the same
    14.29%
    7

    The poll is expired.

Sven is ahead in the poll I see.

Ottke had an excellent amateur career, with wins over good fighters like Antonio Tarver, Zsolt Erdei and Chris Byrd.

There is a difference in not leaving the US, and not leaving Germany...

Ward >> Ottke obviously, maybe not in punching power, but as a fighter.

Even if they were really equal in every way, Ward would be better in some peoples' minds because he's an American, right?

There isn't much difference in leaving the US and leaving Germany, except in Germany the crowds are bigger and boxing is watched by a higher percentage of the population.

There were about 5000 fans at last nights' fight. In England, they would have had 20,000.

Dunno about who is a harder puncher but it is sad that boxing fans didn't turn up to the fight in high numbers.

Ward also had small crowds for his fights with Bika and Green in his hometown of Oakland.

There are more sports than just boxing in the U.S., thus not as many fans.

Ward is a better more complete fighter than Ottke, the whole tournament PROVES he can beat just about any style there is.

Then why wouldn't Ward man up and fight in another country? Froch had five of his past 6 fights in foreign countries.

Are you honestly arguing that the fighters fighting in Germany are as good as those fighting in the US?
