You know what the sad thing is...? If Floyd were to take this fight and win he would get no credit for it for three reasons. Martinez is going to be 37 soon and he will also be coming down a weight class. But the most important reason? Nobody knows who the hell Martinez is outside of the die hard fans. Good fight if it happens but it's meaningless for Floyd at this point.

Wow, this is good news for the pac/mayweather fight. I don't believe that floyd wants anything to do with sergio so the way i see this, may/pac is close to reality. I don't like floyd as a person, but as a boxer he truly is great and i don't think manny has much of a chance. Sergio on the other hand, is one of two people i think would beat floyd or make him look human. Dont laugh, but the other is paul williams. I see paul beating floyd. Styles make fights and paul 2 busy and got some pop, he would end up catchin floyd on the way in.jmo

Ok, so, if no Pacquiao, then Martinez?

This is the fight that i want floyd to take, more recognition and easier fight than manny.

I hope this fight will be made so that floyd will beat martinez overrated ass.

This is another posturing, another bull**** from Floyd Mayweather Jr. The whole world knows that Manny Pacquiao is willing to meet every demand that Floyd is asking just to make the fight happen. Mayweather will do everything in his capability just to avoid Manny Pacquiao. If Floyd will be fighting another fighter aside from the Pacman...boxing fans knows that it will just be another comedy show. Mayweather can not fool the people all the time and the people showed it during the Mayweather/Ortiz fight...PPV was at its very low that even HBO was embarrassed to make any announcement regarding the total household buys.

You must be crazy. Sergio is not an easier fight than Manny. Sergio can actually fight going backwards and is bigger and stronger than Manny. Floyd also would not get more recognition for this fight because Sergio is no where near as well known as Manny Pacquiao is.

Martinez would drop down to a reasonable catch-weight, like 154-155, to face Mayweather.
