The ******ity and ignorance of most of the boxingScene posters on this thread is beyond belief. I said from the very beginning of the case that he would have had to have been sober when he made the will and that she'd win. The lawyer would have protested if he was drunk. And I suppose, although I don't know Brazilian Law, that it says a guy is entitled to leave his assets to the person of his choice.

i KNOW, that in Canada, regardless of a will such as this, the court will set it aside ( on application) and divide up the estate as if the person had died intestate. THat is; a third to the surviving spouse and the remaining 2 thirds divided equally to any children, whether there were 1-2 or 20.

I expressed surprise that the Canadian court even heard this case, because it did not have a valid basis in law, also, the will was made in a different jurisdiction. I believe that Canadian Law mandates that wills made in other jurisdictions be honoured, but am not certain. All that happened was that the widow may have had to pay out much of the pretty small estate in legal fees etc. which would be a shame. Perhaps the case was dismissed with costs for the defendant, although if so, she would only get whatever fees the court deemed appropriate. But ALL lawyers have their own ideas as to what they're worth, and charge by the hour, and the client has no way of knowing how many hours the lawyer actually spent on the case. He would routinely charge HIS hourly rate for the time his poorly paid assistant would spend looking up precedents in the Law library, or other routine work. Laywers, even if initially honest, become crooks very quickly. So she's sure to have a hefty bill even so.

I'm glad she won, to live with a raving, low quality drunk like Gatti must have been hell, and having the child made it worse. I believe that she married him to get out of her poor life, but I also believe that she must have regretted it very often. She deserves every penny.

No matter how great a warrior Gatti was, and he was that, he wasn't much of anything else.

Having your opinion in the murder/suicide debate is one thing, but making disparaging comments about his close family over an extended period of months makes you a worthless, bitchy little ****.

Take your wanky little .gif and ram it up your arse, f*ggot.

I'm pretty sure that living with a raving (by several credible accounts), low quality (pretty self evident), abusive, drunk drug user (oh, but it's only guys who get called on those offences, right?) like Amanda must have been hell, too.

Well I'd say you were right in that, but so far I haven't seen any credible accounts that she was so. Except that the Gatti family, who were after the money, made these accusations. And they were trying to get her convicted of murder to get at it. They were not remotely credible, as could be seen from the very beginning, even if they HAD produced the non existent will, which was plainly a concocted lie. It was a pure fraud they were trying to perpetrate. I can't see a young guy, especially one who had a young wife and baby child, NOT leaving all his assets to them, except of course for any small other bequests he might have wanted to make. He was diligent enough to have made full provision for his other child, although probably forced to, by the courts.

The estate really wasn't enough to make all that fuss, trouble and expense over. Their own expenses, with special investigators etc. must have been enormous. That their lawyers didn't advise them that they had only little chance to succeed, shows that he was a crook as well, although, if they were so ****** as to insist on their course, I guess he'd just shrug his shoulders and take their money. But they went to their lawyer for advice, so why didn't he tell them straight out, that they had no chance of doing a young widow with a baby out of her inheritance bequeathed by a legal will. And especially, with such a tenuous accusation.

It's all pretty sketchy but people have to realize what alcohol and depression can do... either she's innocent or a complete sociopath because I watched that doco on the case and she seemed genuinely sad, who knows though. If she did it then it'll take a complete sociopath to stay sane looking at her kid whose name is Arturo Gatti Jr.
