Lennox was not able to unload his arsenal because Vitali kept holding like a b.tch. I can understand holding for 15 secs the way LL did in rd 2, but Vitali held for two whole minutes. Off of 1 shot, not an arsenal.
You must be mistaken.. check your stop watch again.. Vitali held twice in the entire fight & once in the 5th off that uppercut from hell & once in the final 10 seconds when LL got him with a temple shot from the blind side. Vitali instinctively knew to smother Lewis from getting off a follow up shot.. it was more like ten seconds of manhandling Lewis as he was emptying his load.. you forget it was Vitali who backed LL into the ropes & was the aggressor right where that final sequence occurred on the ropes when they were tied up. The ONLY thing LL did better than Vitali is hold & hit on the inside as he pretty much caused the cut to open up & got him with the temple shot towards the end.
Vitali did a poor job of letting Lewis hit him while one arm was tied as he wasn't used to anybody being in his face like that... & being caught twice with LL power shots towards the end of a grueling war is more stamina related as Vitali's strength & resistance was somewhat depleted by then... no shame in that unlike Lewis who was one Vitali right hand away from being ktfo when both were completely fresh sans cuts & no stamina issues... tell me if this isn't what transpired Joe C as i'm telling it as it went down with no pretense at all.
Vitali spent the entire 6th round punching air and hugging. People who think Vitali was about to KO Lewis are living in nostalgia.
Vitali was winning the first half of that rd & actually backed LL into the ropes.. ten seconds before the bout ended.. dunno what you were watching.. go play the tape again... all peeps remember is that shot Lewis caught him before the buzzer went off. Vitali still threw more punches in that rd & landed more.
So that's your 1000th post but it isn't really a good one...Vitali will be remembered for ruling the heavyweight division for many years, dominating and destroying close to everyone he ever faced, and for delivering a great heavyweight battle between him and another ATG HW Lennox Lewis and effectively sending him into retirement and later taking over the heavyweight crown.
...at a time when nobody gave a *** about the heavyweight division. coincidence?

^^^^ This
Look at the end of the sixth round. Vitali takes two good shots, hold to save his life, takes a good uppercut on the inside, go back at his corner completely demolished, spit blood, so the ref decided to stop the fight.
I can't understand people saying he was taking over, cause it wasnt the case and it was getting really dangerous for his health.
Seriously Vitali is a hell of a fighter, one of the best heavyweight ever, I just like to piss off his obsessed fans with their list of "facts".
Titles don't make the fighter, the fighter makes the title
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
That could be taken in both contexts... you know.. the part about the fighter making the title.. this fighter can enhance the worth of the so called "paper" title by wearing it over his waist instead of some lower level fighter.
Unless you're the actual champion, in this case Wlad, the title means nothing. It meant nothing when Peter had a strap, Hide or anyone else in that time frame. There is only ONE world champion, everyone else is an imposter with a paper strap. Unless you beat the man, you're not the man. There are no two ways about it unless you believe we're living on more than one planet. Does ANYONE believe that?
Son... please... you are like a fly on a brick wall that needs to get swatted... you got jokes aplenty & are being a smart a$$. Vitali took everything lewis had to offer in that final rd & trust me son. LL emptied his entire holster & Vitali still kept coming. Let's forget the fact that cameras followed LL to his stool (i've never seen someone want to grab a seat so fast since the last time i took the subway) LL was going to have a heart attack. Vitali wasn't going anywhere but waiting for the next rd to commence.. he could care less how he looked. I love how we ALL forget Lewis' physical condition.. broken nose. whole face was swollen.. he was no more ready for the 7th rd than Klitschko was & was awarded as whack a TKO victory as one can get.
Vitali Klitschko & YOU all know it has been involved in two of the most fugazy/whack TKO losses in boxing history. Never has there been an unbeatable fighter that his lone defeats have come in this fashion.. LL & CB beat him by default & NOTHING else.. they beat him by outlasting him in a fight both were having there a$$Es handed to him due to his BODY failing him... & NOT his boxing skills.. you all KNOW this to be 100% factual yet you somehow twist it around as 2 legit W'S when in reality they were ILLEGIT L's just because BOX rec says so... Think of it as a fighter losing twice by complete & utter robbery & you'll be closer to the truth as that's how I equate those 2W'S by byrd & then Lewis. They DIDN'T earn those W's ONE IOTA & you all FFFIN know it. They got those W's BECAUSE of boxing rules that state you lose if you don't finish the bout completely disregarding the fact you couldn't continue because of physical injury & that you were WINNING convincingly when you were ACTUALLY in the ring fighing & Vitali was READY & willing to continue vs Lewis... LL didn't stop shet.. so that's what I think & that's how it transpired with 100% honesty..
A win is a win, and durability will always be part of winning. There is no default. One guy was able to continue under the rules and regulations the other guy wasn't. Live with the losses because they're legit and they're to the two best guys he ever fought. It is what it is.

Vitaly doesn't rule the division, his brother does. But he will be remembered for his gutsy effort against Lewis. Unfortunately though he didn't retire Lewis, Lewis retired on his own showing the world he was smart enough to get out after a great struggle with a tough, young fighter. Fans should hope Vitaly is as smart.

Vitali was on his way to the canvas in rd 6 and was trying to drag Lennox with him like he did in round 4. It didnt work and lennox kept them both up(500 combined lbs). If LL was half as tired as you say he wouldnt be able to do this.
Punchdrunk Wrestling while getting your face fcked up is NOT Boxing. Vitali was done and the physician did the right thing by putting a stop to that freakshow.
