Andre Ward. After winning the Super 6, beating Bute and then moving up to LHW after a couple of years.

honestly, i think b-hop was more deserving of FOTD than pac.... but i am not mad pac got it. he has done more for boxing (in a marketing sense)... boxing was in dire need of a "role model" type of figure to replace the golden boy....
i think if floyd wasnt a part-time fighter, he wouldve EASILY got FOTD.

i think pac is fading... FAST. and floyd doesnt have the motivation or desire to fight like he once did.... IMO, floyd's style is all about self-preservation, i can imagine floyd having a long career like b-hop.... so floyd can definitely be a possible candidate for the next FOTD. but im sure they will give it to some young buck.... a canelo type of dude....

Even Pac got it for only a few years of fighting really. He wasn't on the P4P scene until quite recently, and suddenly becomes FOTD, so I can understand your point. It's basically a bit of a hype thing as much as anything but Pac had great accomplishments overall so is deserving enough.

As for the next? I don't know. It's way too early.
you may not know who PAC was, but 2001 Manny has fought his first fight in America and winning his second world championship (1 of them lineal), by 2003 he beat a first ballot HOFer in shocking fashion in Barerra and entered the P4P top 10 rankings and slowly built his claim to the Top of the P4P rankings, took him five years (i dont consider that few and not suddenly) since entering P4P Top 10 before reaching the top....

IMHO maybe its a better argument that this FOTD was more closely fought than previous decades ...

and I agree I do not know who could win it ...

Could be Ward. Most of the winners for FOTD are lightweights and UP, so Gamboa and maybe Mares will not be given attention. Donaire might be too old for the coming decades.

              I agree with this.

"Pac had great accomplishments overall so is deserving enough."

              Hell no.

If you claim to know as much as you do about this sport then you have more than a little feeling that award was given to him more for hype than accomplishments.

As for FOTD? #1 Manny should never have been given that award.

#2. It surely won't be anyone of the Pinoy squad. They are already trying to give it to Donaire and he hasn't really done ****.

When it comes to these BS awards, SMH.
I've said this a long time ago.

I'd have to guess Ward, Benavidez Jr, or Gary Russell Jr

Not sure its way too early. That said, the award has been really cheapened, much like the NBA MVP it has become a popularity contest rather than an award for sustained excellence during a given period. Lets hope the voters set aside personal feelings and vote for a fighter based on his in the ring accomplishments not out of ring popularity.
