If Roach isnt considered a good trainer, then no one today is.

reality is that its more about the fighter than the trainer. What I do know is that Khan looked ****ty and fragile until he met Roach, and then he started winning against good level opposition.

even a perfect trainer(and Roach isnt a perfect trainer by any means) cant completely change who a fighter is, they simply take what they see and try to point them in the right direction.

I call bull****......this guy rarely comes in with plan b when his overrated hype-jobs(manny/khan) are getting their ass kicked. stewart, nacho, roger and sr. all **** on him. he has been matching his fighters up with come-forward face first brawlers because it's the only fight style he know how to train his fighters against.

Roach is having an awful year. Maybe he is losing it as a trainer. His fighters seem to be regressing.

I never really fought he had a reign. He did wonders with Pacquiao with the help of incredible match making but thats about it. It was mainly media hype, but he deserved it for what he did with Pac man.

IMO Roach is a better match maker then a trainer anyway...

THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Some people seem to think that Freddie didn't exist until Pac came along. Freddie is good, he isn't great. Never has been. He will go back to being just like every other trainer once Manny calls it a day.

Freddie Roach is where he's at right now because of Manny. Freddie has made a boat load of money, been on numerous tv shows and even givin his own show beacause of Manny. He needs to also thank Bob Arum for the great match making they did with handlen Manny the way they did so Manny could keep winning. Once Cotto beats Chavez jr and Floyd KO's Manny then the Freddie hype will go down the toilet.

He has Amir, Chavez, Martiyosan, etc... He has trained Virgil Hill before Pac...In any case a trainer will always be known for their signature fighter.. Floyd had Roger, Dundee had Ali, Gainford had Louis, and SRR, and so and so forth.. So whats your point...

Are you referring to Joe Louis? His trainer wasn't George Gainford, it was Chappie Blackburn. Gainford was a boxing manager, not a trainer.
