Now we can all just cross out fingers and pray that we get to see Julio Caesar Chavez Jr. get his ass kicked by Sergio Martinez.

Is the Freddie Roach reign coming to an end?

Just to clarify before everybody "jumps my shit" : I think Roach is a good trainer. Just highly overrated, as most trainers in this sport are.
Most trainers get entirely too much credit : When the bell rings, it's all on one man. Period.
The only current trainer I think you can really say is a legit badass in his field is Beristain, unlike Roach (who took over for several guys who were already champions), "Nacho" crafted most of his on his own.
That to me deserves more respect that jumping in the corner of a Tyson, a Toney, or a Hopkins, and getting credit for their victories. (Though in Hopkins' case, he lost)

As long as Alex Ariza is doing the talking in the corners, then yeah, the Freddie Roach era is coming to an end.

When Steward was a young guy training fighters at the Kronk Gym he had quite a few guys who he groomed from day 1.
It's crazy to think that he had 5 guys from 1980-1986 who trained under him their whole lives and won world titles.
Nowadays he does what Roach does and inherits good fighters and reaps the benefits of their success.

Yeah, Steward gets the credit as well for the accomplishments in the 80's, but I don't like the whole "adopt an already decent fighter" gameplan he and Roach do these days.
It shows lack of commitment, IMO.
But Steward deserves as much credit for changing Wlad's style, and helping him become the goliath he is today, as he does for the stuff in the 80's, IMO.
Whereas Roach's claims to have "changed" Manny into a "different fighter", and the "right hand", and all that crap just turned out to be pure talk.
